Hey, as much as I like to brag about destroying little hatchbacks, I think I should mention that my recent escapades have all ended with me eating dust. :D
First up, all this usually happens on the way 'out of town' up a steady incline for about 3km which is dual-lane.
The first race was a bit of a no-brainer, but I must've been in the mood for wasting petrol. :P By the time I shut down at 180km/h, the manual E46 330i was about 10 car lengths ahead and still pulling away nicely.
Next was a colleague of mine, who just got himself a 2002 Toyota RunX RSi. That's South African code for a 6-speed Corolla hatchback with the 141kW 8300rpm VVT-i engine. Although I didn't expect to be murdered THAT badly (also because someone "stole" my cats at the last service), the result was pretty much the same. :P I guess it was payback time for all those other little hatchbacks.
And yesterday - yet again knowing that I was in for a spanking - a brand-new pitch-black SLK350 auto. Not too sure if the gel-and-sunglasses poser was giving it all, but he also walked away comfortably. The 350 sounds very sweet though, especially when it changes cogs.
So there, I've owned up. And now I'm driving to Stellenbosch to look at a 2000 black E430 Avantgarde. :P
