I've been thinking long and hard about getting the Upsolute Chip for my 1999 C230Kompressor.

Does anyone here have the chip for their C230K???
If so, how is it?
How much is it?
Install yourself?

Thanks!

It is $400. DO NOT INSTALL IT YOURSELF. To find an agent near you, check out www.upsolute.com (http://www.upsolute.com)

I have it - works great -

Great service - you can always bring it back for a retune if necessary. (if you do other mods, etc., etc.)

Not sure how much it was, as I got it way back when I was the first 230k to be done in North America. $400 sounds about right.

You can't install it yourself because technically, there isn't anything to install. The process involves taking a chip out of your ECU, loading the program on their comp, and when they receive the program back from HQ, they "flash" it onto your chip and reinstall.

Luwin,
Did the chip give you the claimed horsepower that is stated on their website? For my E320 they claim a 20hp increase and I'm not sure if I believe it, I know the 230k's get more HP increase than other engines...Did you get a good gain from the chip? Was it as much as they claimed? thanks

btw, the site says $300 chip, $75 install. Which isnt bad at all.

Upsolute is very reputable company. they are huge in the vw/audi community. thousands and thousands of customers world-wide. its widely known that they provide excellent service. their programs are also very nice and like luwin said, they're willing to retune if need be free of charge most if not all of the time.

Unfortunately, I was unable to dyno before/after the chip, but it definitely gave the 230k more breath. I think the 20hp increase on a normally aspirated motor is a little optimistic, so I would ask them if they can provide dyno sheets. Maybe with the chip and race gas? :D

Exactly, last time I remember the C280 engine only got a gain of like 8hp, now they say 20hp for the 320..dunno bout that...but I guess its worth a little gain for the relatively small cost.

really i would only suggest buying a chip if your car has a turbo or a supercharger on it. because the car companies leave lots of room in reserve in the forced induction cars, the possibilities of gains through software tuning are large. my car for example, being so dumbed down from the factory, has the potential through upsolute to jump from 150hp to 196hp and 155lbs. ft. to 200+ lbs. ft. thats some serious gains but only cause my car is turbo. luwin, mark, and a few others also got some very nice gains because their engines are forced induction.

Hey guys.. Thanks for all your replies... Now I'm reallyl excited about getting this chip. I barely beat my friends 2000 Acura TL yesterday night. I want to smoke his ass with this chip. Look forward to gettting it done.

How long did u have to leave your car in the shop to get it installed?

You can do it in a two-shot deal.

Drive your car there - they remove the chip and load the program onto their comp - reinstall the chip and let you go!

3-5 days later, you drive there again, they remove your chip and "flash" the program onto it, reinstall the chip and let you go!

Done!

Yes, all they change is some values, they can change them back if you ask :) . Upsolute even have plans for switchable software so you can swap between "tuned" and "stock" settings yourself! Useful for when your car is being serviced, or when a valet or your mom has to drive it :)

thats the one feature that Upsolute was lacking for a very long time. chip tuning companies like APR, while more expensive, did have this very nice option. i believe GIAC also had this option. but now that upsolute has this feature available in the US soon, it makes upsolute an even better buy than it was before.
