so im driving home at night and i see xenon lights pull up fast behind me, i expect the car to pass me but as it comes to my door it slows down and pases me. the guy opens the window and yells lets race, and i hear him downshift, i look over and its a black WRX, with a passanger. so from a roll, we hit it, i jump on him, and keep a lead for a second or two, and he starts coming close to me, takes by 3/4 carlenghs, and then it does not gain anymore, curve comes he hits the brakes i keep going. Then again, he wants to race from a roll after the curve going 30mph, i punch it first and about a second later he punches it, some seconds later he is at my door, and little longer he gets passed me, and then gets a carlenght on me and shuts it down. I imediatly tell me self no way, i just got smoked by a WRX, but as we approach a patch of light, i notice the big wing and realize it was an STI so i should not feel bad. we come to next stop and the guy is really friendly. he claims he has cat back and intake. I guess i stand better chances with WRX...lol

A WRX should take you as well....it'll depend a little where you're starting from. A roll you might have some life, from a dig forget about it

i dont know, ive never raced one but everybody says that the cars should be equal or with in similar range..id gladly find out if there was a person whod want to participate
EDIT: No, i have not dyno'd my car yet..im waiting to have a complete Turbo Back Exhaust. Its expensive here, and knowing the actual numbers would not really be that helpful..

Now that i think about it, i really feel stupid that i did not get 100 octane chip along with my 93. i got a 93 and stock mode..

stock times for WRX are
0-60= 5.2
1/4 mile=14.60
You would need a K04 upgrade to think about mid 14s...but if we're talking from a roll it would depend where you start and how far you go as you'd start to pull a bit. The problem that you'll face is that most WRX drivers that want to race have probably done some minor mods themselves to go ahead of that.

i was really suprised, how long it took it to catch up from a roll, first time we puched it just about the same time, and i imediatly got a jump on him, mabye i cought him at an inconvnent gear/RPMs

That's why I've left my FWD A4 @ chipped. No matter what you'll do it'll never be "fast"
quattro version is a bit diff but still even with AWD you can't get much better than mid 13s in one

i dont know, well see, my friend alen just installed KO4, on his audi, its a small cute turbo, but he claims it will get him up to 280whp, and hes got quatro. Hope to see the car at the strip, other than that yea they all require good amount of work.

anyone else think it wasn't a real STi? they pull pretty darn hard even from a roll at higher speeds, unlike regular WRX's

this was not high end speed, it was probably till about 70, and im pritty sure if we kept going that he would have made probably 3+ more carlenghts on me..
And no my imaginaton is not getting the best of me. i know what i have, my turbo is so small i can bearly see it past my downpipe. which is why i feel a bigger turbo would be nice..lol

Those times are a bit off... to 60 takes 5.6 and through the quarter at 14.4 @ 94.5 mph... but still, no chipped jetta can mess. WRX is an even match with the 350z off the line. But up top, the Z bests the WRX.

so think about how much hp it'll be putting down at 1.5-1.7 bar
BUT then again i dunno if the 1.8T (with a stock K03) with the higher compression ratio could run that much boost without internal work........but i am sure that a K04 will put out more than 235hp at the crank

agreed if he is only slapping a K04 on and running high boost without any internal engine work noone in the rite mind would do that
on a side note: some new 530i trydda play around wit me the other day at a light to a on-ramp.......by 60 i was a gud carlength ahead of him and i just kept pull to about 2-3 CL at about 100 and shut down

I know that a chipped TT is good for 265hp crank is it? But when you do a K04 upgrade on an A4 I know for a fact it's only good for 235 crank....don't ask me what the difference is as I don't know. Check up any aftermarket site selling K04 kits or ask on an audi forum and you'll see that I speak the truth ;)

i believe you, i think its probably because they 1.8t cannot run a higher boost than 1.0 bar without internal mods (ie reinforce rods etc.) or lowering the compression ratio
i dunno about my TT but i've hear and seen some pretty nice dyno #s on stock TT K04 quattros (showing at 250whp which is almost 300 crank hp on pump gas)
and yes dun ask me about dyno-ing my car caz i am broke right now lolssss....i've got the bigger MAF sensor housing sitting in the garage but i dun have the $$ for the TTDA intake.....sigh......sad........

the first time i believe i got a small jump on it just casue the car was probably in wrong gear at wrong rpm with another person in it, the second time i just started a second earlier than it..but im not saying my car can hand with it, that thing is a beast, especially after he really opened it up the second run

get your facts straight, elvir, i never said 280whp. J31 yields around 280chp and around 320tq. that should be good enough for sub 14sec.
oh and when you get better than 15.9secs then you might have a chance with an sti, or even my K03 time. :P

cause it was slower than me, my car has potentional to hit high 14s low 15s with only my modifications with proper tires, unlike what i have (all season), and with capable driver,. im still having hard time launcing the car, cause my clutch works differently than other VWs.
Alen talks about quater mile time which means nothing to me. he pulled 15.1 on his best run, because of quattro. if the track was longer id not only catch up to him but pass him. everytime we raced form a roll i took him with ease. Im sure hes faster now, i have no doubt. but he did tell me 280whp for his k04. so there was no reason for him to do the personal attack

anyhow back on the topic, i really have no ideal what kind of 'jump you would have on a WRX....in any speed that it....you just mention that you have small 195s tires on ur car...and cant really do a good launch.......and the WRX is AWD.......
i really dun see how you can have a jump on him unless the WRX driver dunno how to launch/drive or he is not trying to race...or both

and i just raced another GT from a roll, i was behind him when we both hit it, and by 70+ i ended up easing off my pedal slightly cause i was getting too close to him
