Went to MB today to sort out this miss problem I have. I asked to buy "coil ends" and with that he could not find what I was talking about.. to me there is a end that attaches to the spark plug and there is a little section that goes between the end that attaches to the spark plug and runs along the top of the motor.. I know what the "coil" looks like and is $70.00 x 3. These were $20.00 and he said I needed 3 of them but he said I needed a special tool to put these on etc... with that I said I will ask the guys here about it.. can anyone give me a discription on what the "coil end' is etc..

Coil ends....the piece that is between the coil pack and the spark plug. Basically a connector for the coul pack tot he spark plug.

$20 each? they were like $10 each for the M104's.

Anyways...if you know how to replace the plugs, you can replace these. Not sure about how to replace these on the ML though.

So the BS that the counter guy told me about a special tool etc.. is just that... take the old one off and snap the new one on.. no tools.. this guy I think was lost, and made me lost..

I was told that these go out w/ enough regularity that some indie shops just change them regardless when they do plugs. My C36 had 41K on the clock when one of mine failed! My local indie dealer replaced all my wires(high tension leads are what MB calls 'em)& resistors & labor it all came out to like $350!!! Come to find out that MB wires never wear out! The resistance for the whole ignition system is in the 'ends' not the plugs or wires. M104's have non-resistor plugs. When the ends get old, the load increases to send juice through 'em & you get misfire condition. I was pissed to find out I could have done it all myself for like $40.00 total.

So the dealer lied that I needed new wires also($ on the parts) & additional labor to install wires($ on labor) to make a cool extra $200 in his pockets. I need to be a benz tech so I can take people to the cleaners!!!!!!!!!!

U should have asked for Supressors...(coil ends) the black rubber tube that goes inbetween the spark plug and coil.
