If this was a bnzsporter, speak up! I was getting onto 16 West to Highway 5 today when I spotted a 202 C36 AMG up a head. We both merged onto the 5 and I 'egg-ed' him on, just to see what he would do. Normally I'm a pretty passive driver, but today I was feeling a bit fiesty! So I punched it and he did the same. Luckily it was one of those 'once in a lifetime' occations being that both the rain and traffic were non existant. Anyways, from 45 we were dead even up until 90 when he started to pull on me. Its that dang good German gearing! From a standstill, I might have had him (Altima 0-60= 5.9 sec manual and C36 is 6.1-6.2), but from high speed, the C36 had me without a doubt!

Anyways, it was a good race non the less! The Altima has got some go for sure!

10 years ago the C36 was pretty fast, but nowadays so many cars are faster it's not even funny. The Altima 3.5 is a fast car, especially for a FWD. That engine is awesome! if I were to get another car i'd consider it.

I wonder if that C36 was a 97 or older, as the 97 had more hp.

I have seen the 0-60 figures range anywhere from 5.9 secs to 6.7 seconds in several magazine and online reviews. When I had my g-tech I clocked a 5.9 but I think there's like a .5 sec margin of error so it seemed about right for what I expected and "feel".

From low-end acceleration I have experienced my car being less of a challenge to others. But mid-range acceleration to freeway passing I am still amazed at how much torque is available from the I6. 80-100mph is still a nice sprint :)

The modern FWD cars are definitely amazing for being able to put down the power and also handle in the curves! I know the Altima and Acura TL are up there in terms of overall performance.

I know I could have pulled him from 0-60. Both the Altima and the C36 have around 6.1 sec to 60 times. But the C36 is geared for higher speeds, without a doubt. The Altima just isn't built for curising the Autobahn, etc.

Btw- the Altima makes 250, not 260hp.

no no no i totally believed ur story and i was actually suprised that the altima didnt out ran the C36

but just to comment on what Elvir said.....i was ONLY doubting HIS jetta vs moostang story

and thats where those hp #s came from lolsssss

thanks Golden

anyhow enuff of elvir (since i really dun give a F)....is ur altima a 6 speed?? or auto

Vodka, the Altima is a 5-spd... The SER has got the 6-spd. Its one of the reasons why I didn't get the SER. 6-speeds is too much shifting for that car, the ratios are too close. It was the same case with my Sentra SER Spec V. The other was that I can't have the harsh ride of 18's on 40 serie tire.

altima is called maxima in other parts of the world right...i drove a maxima once, and that thing was fast it didnt even come with a 3.5 it came with a 3.0 i think at the time so thats y i totaly believe ur story, and i am not the least bit suprised....gr8 car..well built..and lasts for a life time.........nehow...c36 is still a amg......so for that r.e.s.p.e.c.t.
