Surfblau and I were in Stuttgart today (factory tour and some other MB related stuff) and saw a masked silver colored SLR out in the open on the streets...the car had a UK license plate (McLaren product) and a regular leftside steering wheel...Exited as we were we almost missed the fully masked black either new M-class or A-class that was driving behind the SLR...we didn't see what it was because that second car was followed by a black masked R171 SLK...quiet a trio...
I regret not having brought my camera (left it in my car)...sorry about that!
We also saw several (un)masked new V-classes and some body panels and mouldings for the body panels of that new R171 SLK...

did the SLK, ML/A class look much different than the current ones or did they look more like an evolution?

It's amazing how a disguised SLR can distract the attention of two other disguised cars! The SLR looked just the way I expected it to look (dimension-wise - it was afterall disguised..) after seeing pictures of it.. The A/ML-class was only seen very briefly due to the SLR and SLK, and the SLK was easily recognizable since there are pictures of that one as well already..
I think the SLK will be somethink like the new E-class as far as changes go; no drastic changes, but well enough to make it easily recognized as a new car. The dimensions of the car looked exactly the same as on the present one..
On the factory tour we also saw a disguised A-class (100% certain what it was), and the size and shape looks very similar to the present one, but the front end didn't look quite as steep..
The molds that we saw were for the new SLK (171) and the new A-class (169) - the A-class will have taillights with a Sportcoupé-like profile, only taller..
The new V-class, or Viano as it is called, looked exactly as it does in now official pictures - a lot better than before - and will even be offered with Comand!
Overall it was a very nice day, and eventhough I have been at both the museum and the factory before I would still like to go there again if I have the chance. I can fully recommend it to everyone who is in the neighbourhood (for instance the Netherlands..).
