View Full Version : do you....
do you ever buy the service plan at bestbuy? I just got a TV $1700 and the got the 4 yrs plan for 300. they say no matter what happens to the TV in 4 yrs, they will fix it ( in home service) or I can a new one for free, also I can get unlimited inner tv cleaning, projector tubes calibrating and some other things I have no clue of what it is. please tell me I did the right thing because I never buy those type of plans for anything.

I think it's alright..
the projectors on ours started conking out after 4 years.
but hten that's because we have a family of 6 ~~~ heavy use.
remotes get fairly beat up too.
I cant ascertain if the price itself of the extended warranty is good or bad.
futureshop, which was bought out by bestbuy here in canada, was a bit shady on extended warranties.. sometimes they'll say the replacements covered extended warranty is to the equivalent of the product's performance (hence four years in the future, you'll get an older product.... cheaper for them), but in some cases, I've been told it's based on price (spend 5000 now for a top-end model, and if it breaks 3 years from now, you will get a better-performing top-end model that is worth 5000 at that time in the future)

Sounds like you got a rear screen projection TV? I have a 3 year old 40" Toshiba, it should be prof-calibrated and have the convergence fine tuned, search online for info on getting into the sub-menu.

as i am a member of this community, I would not steer any fellow members in the wrong direction...i have too much respect for all of you guys...
as an employee at Best Buy, I Whole-Heartidly agree and beleive in the Service Plan...it is well worth it in just about everything you get it on...
with TV's 25" and up, its all IN HOME SERVICING...if you have any issues what so ever, just call an 800 number...
just my $0.02
good advice. my TV is coming this week. I can't wait, now I am just looking for a tv stand ( it's the one for the 46 inch sony widescreen, almost no way to get it under 200 bucks). anyway, anyone know where I can get this lovely mirco system for under 199.99? The only place I can find is Tweeter.

i've bought them but i've never had to use them. usually the stuff i get at Best Buy is top notch and they never break. i get bored of them an upgrade before they ever wear out.
