Well this happened like this I was going to my friends job late at night to pick him up and go chill then he told me that lets pass by the usual race spot at publix then since his work was 2 mins away. We went there and we saw some people there so we pulled in before I even got a chance to get off the car they came up to me and asked me if i wanted to race I was like sure I'll do it even though I wanted to race the New Evolutions more then the eclipse. The only thing I saw in his car was the big a$$ front mount in his car. Then we went on the Gratney where it was 3 wide open lanes and no cars passes by. First race was out the hole I launched my car at 2000 Rpm and just left him their spinning his tires and I beat him like 6 cars. Afterwards he asked if I could do a second gear roll at 40 miles to 130. I said fine he cheated me on the role I was at second gear running 20 miles which i was really in first gear I wasn't even ready so he took me out of power band but once we punched it I was able catch up slowly creeping on him by 110 i was able to pass him and beat him by 2 1/2 car length.

Second race was with a AWD Eclipse I didn't believe it but I was able to launch with a AWD car he didn't jump me or do anything we were neck to neck next to each other and after second gear kicked in I was able pull him by cars before the quarter mile ended I just let off since I was I bit so bad already I was supprised. But when he asked me to do it again I wasn't able to beat as much because my motors temp reached to about 100 degree Celcius and by then I know I dropped alot of horse power because when I dynoed my car the same situation happened to me!!!!:( :( :(

I rolled on versus an eclipse convertible sat night in my SLK32. We were lined up at a red light with open road in front of us. We took off normally. I had my top down so I could hear his car. It was making all kinds of hissing and wheezing sounds. It was *very* loud. Anywho, I could feel it slowing pulling up next to me. I nailed it and so did he. I pulled away very slowly and shut it down at 90-100. Short race. I kept going an my wife swears she saw sparks. (he may have tapped the curb?) He kept going. Any ideas what was making all that noise? Sounded like a damn dragon.

Was it the newer body style? Hissing and wheezing sounds like F/I most likely a turbo. That's why you pulled away 'slowly'.

The first and second gen Eclipses were very tunable. 2 liter turbo 4 cylinders. Those have a good sized aftermarket for parts.

Wategate, blow off valve, the turbo itself, etc...
