Just got back from an awesome weekend in Amelia Island at the Concours. It is turning into quite the show, the 3rd largest (after Pebble Beach and Medow Brook). On Friday we joined the Southern Stars MB club for the MB Gala dinner @ the Ritz, a very elegant dinner featuring guests such as Sir Stirling Moss and Hurley Haywood. Saturday morning the board of the Concours was treated to an open track event at the Amelia Island private airport. I got to ride in an SLR 722 Edition (awesome!), New CL550, CLS63, CLK63 Coupe (Euro Spec, under private ownership), and Maybach 62S. We were allowed cameras in the parking lot, but not during the event (strange?!). Pictures to follow! Later Saturday was the RM Auction, which I was able to volunteer to drive a few cars through the auction block, including a Ferrari 365 Daytona, which sold for 250,000+ USD! Today was the actual Concours, which featured cars from all over the country. In all, I took around 200 shots, and I'm working on getting them processed and resized.
Here is a teaser. This original 300SLR was brought over from Germany for the show, right out of the MB museum in Stuttgardt. I believe its one of 3 surviving originals, but I'm not sure on that number.

John Sinders DB3 (John Sinders is one of the primary investors under Aston Martin's new ownership, which was finalized over the weekend on London. He had a rep at the show to accept his class award, since he was in London finalizing the deal):

The first Ferrari, the 125S.

Between that car and the SLR, I would not hesitate to say that those are some of the two most important cars in racing history!

Mark - you should check out blurb.com and make a book there where you can then sell it!!

I love the artsy shots. I would also love to see some "full body shots" (lol). But seriously, like that dual cockpit car.

Yeah I've check into both that and Asukabook.com. Asukabook is a bit expensive...blurb.com looks way better. Thanks for the advice, I really want to get some printing done in the near future!
Pete- the thing that sucks about these shows is that the crowds are always in the way. Thus I get frustrated and the full body shots are the first to go.
No more car shots for today, but here are 3 from Amelia Island's beaches:

Stunning detail and composition on cars, simply gorgeous! And from the beach - the last one, something I can see in the collection from E. Porter!
