i'm not particularly fond of the scissor jack that came with the car.. too unstable for my taste.

My car and my buddies W202 has Jack Pads(Rubber pads) right behind the MB jack points. So you just need a small block of wood between the jack and pad.

I ONLY trust a floor jack when working on my car. I have never even tried to jack up my car any other way.
I waited for a nice 2 1/4 ton trolley jack to go on sale at Sears. It worked out really well because even with my car lowered I have about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch clearance to get the jack under the pad and the "disk" on the jack is exactly the same size as the jack pad under the SLK.
Scissor jacks are way to suceptible to falling over. Along with being afraid for my own safety, I can't imagine what kind of damage could be done to my car if a wheel was off or something and it came crashing down :( .

Yes, I also use 2 tonne floor jacks :) I want the 3 tonne racing ones so that they will fit easier under my lowered car but spending $300 each is quick steep.
And Kuhl, I've dropped the car before without the rear driver's side tire on and nothing happened.
Big boo boo but Benzes be built buffly.

:werd: And I depending on the depth on the cup of the jack, you may not need to use the block - with the floor jack that I have it fitted perfectly onto those rubber bumps on my old W202.

I also use a 2 1/2 ton floor jack. I usually back or pull my car in 1/2 way so that it has a little bit of an angled offset (due to the garage rise) it only gives me about an inch more of play but it helps. Then I jack up by the differential or engine cross member and put two jack stands at the jack stand points, always metal to metal dont want any wood slipping out or anything. Those scissor jacks are quite scary, I only use them to change a flat when nothing else is available.

my 2 ton floor jack works wonders, hell it will left a side at once w/ ease and its a hell of a lot safer than the ones they give you in the trunk. I'm going to miss using it once I drop the car :(
