/rant on

I just have to let this out.

WHY THE HELL DO PEOPLE NOT TAKE CARE OF THIER CARS?

A little car wash once in awhile will help deter rust. I mean, peopl spend tens of thousands of dollars on a car and they don;t even take the time to take care of it?

If you buy a house, would you let it run down? a car is arguably the second or third most expensive thing someone will purchase in thier lives yet they don't car of it?

What brought this on? my brother who had a mint 1992 BMW 535i which is now run down to he ground. (It was run down 5-6 yars ago).

as well as driving around, seeing all the nice cars, you know..benzo's, bmw's etc. I look at the rims and it's black from the years of brake dust that accumulate on it.

It bugs the sheet out of me that people drive around in nice cars and don't even take care of it.

i can understand your anger.....i suggest you

1) talk some sense into your brother
2) wash his car
3) tell him that he doesnt deserve the car
4) tell your parents who bought your brother the car so that they dont make that expesive mistake again

1) he's pig headed. It's his way or the highway
2) no chance in hell
3) he knows he doesn't deserve it (he dosn't even pay fo gas)
4)Funny you said that. He knows it's not 'HIS' and that's why he doesn't care. Here's a story. when he first got his license, first thing my parents did was go out and get him a honda civic as a first car. He test drove it and said he can walk faster and that he would pass and take the bus instead. Idiot.

He's 29 (30 end of this year) no real job and has never had a full time job. Less Mc Donald's when he was in high school and that was only for one weekend, and he expects his first job to pay him 6 digits.

I'm not supporting his ass in the future.

Although a car may be the second or third most expensive thing a person buys, some people can afford to run a car into the ground and buy a new one and start the cycle all over again.

You would hate to see my daily beater (95 E420). I wash it only when I have too, which is when the dust collects so much that I cannot see out the window. Then, I only go to the gas station and wash the windows.

My rims on my E420 haven't seen the light since it last seen them. I don't give a rats @$$ about my rims. Rims are like diapers to me...disposable. I buy new rims often, not because I have to, but because my style/wants/needs change all the time. What I want today is not want I want the next day. Also once I get something, I am like what is next. I move on, very quickly. Hell my E500 is only going to be in my garage for another 11 months then I put her @$$ on the streets, and pimp something else.

Oh, the only reason I wash my E500 is because someone else washes it for me. My schedule is way to busy to be bothered with trivial stuff. Maybe if I had more time in schedule I would clean my car. I do work on my car myself though, just not wash it :D That is the life.

I guess when you can afford to do certain things, it just doesn't matter.

E420 = daily beater?

I wish :(

I barely drive the SL anymore... insurance keeps going up so I told my Dad to pull me off the policy... Now he drives it daily and I got a Honda. E420/400E is a nice car IMO... I'd treat it better than how Doc treats his car if I had one :P

I loved the 400E when we had it... one of the best cars we ever had and it cost a lot less effort and money to maintain than the SL.

I don't know whether your rich or not but I believe that the condition of what you drive reflects on you like the clothes you wear. "Who cares if I put mustard on this shirt... at the end of the day I got another" type of mentality kinda sucks.

I hate my Honda but I still try to wash it weekly and its going to the bodyshop at the end of the year since there are too many scratches and crap on the finish.

EDIT: This is jsut another rant... not really directed at anyone :P

One word: Lazy

People don't take care of a lot of things in life because they're lazy. Some would try and justify that it's busy and not lazy, but in the end it really is lazy.

Yup, it is my beater. Any car I drive everyday regardless of what type of car it is, is a beater.

That is the difference between me and you. I make the car the car doesn't make me. I don't care what people think of me or my car, because in the end, all that matters is what I think of me.

Only people looking for artifical things, let material things reflect on them (IMHO).

I am the same person with or without material things in life, because life is much more then material items (IMHO).

I am Shanta all day and everyday.

What makes me and what reflects on me, is me and my whole sense of being.

I could be buck naked in the jungle, without a pot to piss in nor a window to throw it out of, and at the end of the day, I am still me. Life is good!

Don't let the smooth taste fool ya.

I am not sure that is lazy. The guy pictured above seems to be uneducated in car care. He took the time to wash it, but doesn't know what to dry it with besides paper towels.
