I'd recently made a post about some shots I'd been hoping for, and planning for a long time. You can read about it & the plans & conditions surrounding it here...http://www.bnzsport.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12648

The next evolution of that that I'd been hoping for occurred this evening; I had several spots in NYC in-front of this great colored building all to myself... at least enough spots so no other cars were in the frame. (I did chase one away that wanted to park behind my car... well, chased isn't correct -- I asked nicely and there were plenty of other spots a few dozen feet down the road ;) ) The color on the car is from the reflected neon sign of the Lyric Diner behind & to the right from where I was taking the photos.

These are processed 'darker' then in my other post, because I took care to make a note in my head of exactly how my eyes saw it, and these are as best I can remember "true to life" in light balance. Hope you enjoy.

(you can click the image to load where I posted the image, then click the link on the bottom of the image to get the full-rez originals if you'd like; well, not "unaltered original", but rather post-processed original ;) )

What I'm particularly jazzed about is the detail I got @ night-time. Such as the safety glass wire visible in the window behind the security screen that's glowing green. And in the last image, getting the foreground subject detail while still having enough DOF so the painting on the wall, and all the wall texture also in vivid detail. Hey, I'm one to never stop down, but I did tonight ... and this was a night shot! One thing I KNOW tho, is I need an off camera flash.

98c43amg,

Nice, red & green, complementary, superb. Don't you would send me a high res file to print? Even a .pdf would do the trick. I'll would like to put in the wall of our office.

Thanks,

Renato

Great shots! usually I don't like night photos because of the whacky white balance, but you pulled it off here! Hows the 202 running?

Thanks,
RenatoWoe, this thread got some traction. Sorry I didn't check in for a few weeks. Been too busy w/my newest distraction; my '09 Factory JCW MINI.

karfax, I'll tell you a secret... (actually, not a secret... I mention this in the OP). If you click the image, you load it off my Fotki account... and there's a link to the original 10Meg pixel image there for you to print out, enjoy, and it'll make me feel great if perhaps drool a little. ;) Maybe one day I'll get serious about my copyrights and/or try to make some money off my images. Not doing that yet tho. So, enjoy! :)

Great shots! usually I don't like night photos because of the whacky white balance, but you pulled it off here! Hows the 202 running? I have Lightroom, and the white shutters and window frames on the building, to thank for that. I was able to use the WB dropper on different parts of the image to find the most accurate WB that my eyes saw and brain remembered.

Well.... since you asked. :p

I have -- almost since the begining -- had, and still continue to have a 'love/hate' relationship with it. I can't be happier I put the 5.4L engine in it, or the speedybenz suspension (though, I do need to take off all the dampers and have them serviced). Upgrading the rear anti-swaybar this weekend along with some other work.

But I despise with the utmost furor the auto tranni and moreso the tranni ECU adaptation that morphs the car's engine ECU from operating as a beast as it had right after the swap, into a sedate, lazy sedan, if I don't pound on the gas peddle to keep it alive. I so want to do a Tremec TKO manual tranni swap. But the stock ECU needs the auto tranni signal; I'd have to go with a stand-alone controller then too.. I think I will loose the electronic nannies with that. I'm not read to do any of that.

....especially since I have a new daily to pay off and drive all the time...
