View Full Version : My car got hit last night...

Last night I was at a music gig in a local town for their fireworks show. I was leaving the parking lot early because I wanted to leave the show to beat the traffic. The city workers were setting up the cones and stuff to prepare and I drove up behind a city workers truck because he appeared to be pulling up to the intersection to enter the main road which was what I was doing....nope....instead he puts it into reverse and before I could hardly honk he plows into me with his old truck. The damage is below, but on first look I need a new front bumper, clear corner, fender, lower headlight trim piece, and possibly a new headlight (although it works fine) but probably just the trim that it is attached to.
Anyway, I have full coverage and the good part to this is since he was a city worker on the job the city is responsible for my compensation. I just need to submit 3 estimates. I hope to come out with a 16V or EVO 1 front bumper, 16V fender flairs, the rest of my updated panels, headlight trim piece, new bosch clear corners, and professional paint on it all. We will see how much I can get though. Well, let me know if you have anything I should know or any other parts you spot that need replaced. Thanks, Scott

Damn!!! don't you hate those drivers going into reverse and start backing up their vehicles w/o looking first? eeerrrrr I hate those kind of drivers and I usually would ask myself on how in the hell they got their drivers license for the way drive.
Scotty make sure when you get your estimates, don't go beyond thr blue book value of your car or else they just gonna salvage it.
Good luck mang and hoped to see it back in it's perfect shape again. :mad: :( ;)

That's terrible tho ... I hope they get everyting lined up like before. Fro some reason it is really hard to get American body shops to get an older Benz back to "factory Spec" body gaps. I had to work on mine when I got it back too (not that mine is old, I'm just anal :P ) .... it's never good enough, is it????

I totally agree with Mr. Kuhl. Damn body shops and most of them need to wear some glasses to make them see the difference of a proper alignment and an El cheapo job they do. :mad: :rolleyes: :bored:

like everybody said, that just plain ol sucks..but from the looks of it everything is gonna be ok since u got everything planed out...but the main consern is, if ur going to be jerked by the body shops...they can take weeks to get the job done...they took 21 days to get my car going again...losers...anyway ....good luck

Aw man that sucks :(

I'd try to have it totalled, then buy it back, get the mods from it, and buy me a new car :) But then again, they won't give you much for it...

Man, that sucks! The damage is kinda like mine when my car got hit last Wednesday. Except my corner wasn't broken but I had grille frame damage. On yours, at least it's a government truck and the driver probably won't dispute that it was his fault.

I'm very sorry to hear that, my friend!

FWIW, I am certain that your insurance will only cover a 1:1 replacement cost ratio; that is, anything other than OEM parts will be considered "betterment."

I would take the city's check, if possible, then take my time in finding the 2.3-16V parts wanted/needed.

Slow and sure wins the race!

{EDIT: while your baby's in the body hospital, have the good doctors paint your wiper arm and rear bumper impact-strip!}
