Well since i have got my 1987 300E from the polic impound thing, I realize that those car are better than the new ones. My 280 would shake on the Highway when i am passed by a big truck, but the 300E is very stable. Anyway i decided to give it and SLK type kinda of out. I would like to know where i can get good items such as:
AMG shift knob
AMG door sills
AMG floormat etc.....
chrome insert for the Instrument cluster, i am bidding on Ebay for an AMG white face guage insert, by the way how do i know it is genuine. I am planning to use Konig Matrixx wheels i belive they look very nice, what do you all think? Anyway any suggestion in how to make my car show car is welcome i will post pic soon.
Note: The leather inside is torn and burgundy, i am getting genuine ferrari leather for it. I figured i spent $1000 to buy it and i am ready to spend $10,000 more cuase i know in the future it will be worth the investment.

2) You have yet to answer a single one of my posts.

3) I hope this isn't some kind of JOKE.

Okay, let's do a list:

Door Sills: www.autorice.com (http://www.autorice.com) there are mixed reviews out on him, but I've used him almost a dozen times and I have no complaints yet.

Shift Knob: again, autorice could work. you could just search in google or ebay.

Gauges: go to http://hometown.aol.com/crhenkel/myhomepagebusiness.html . he'll make you some sick gauges in whatever font, color, etc with whatever graphics, extra text, etc on them, and even install them for you. I swear by this guy. Check mine out:

Mats: I got mine off ebay, again, but I didn't really care about the best matts out there. There are just fine!

Hey Tinman,

Nice 124 stuff you got! Very tasteful! Could I ask where you Purchased that shiftknob from? I really like it! Would you trade that CF one for an S600 one with wood/leather on same style to match your interior? :D

thanx!

Whered you get your shiftknob at? My eyes are tired but thats C/F right? Did you need the new shaft to put it in or did it come with one? Good for you for supporting Jamie @ autorice too, he gets a lot of smack but I've only had good experiences with him!

I'm looking, guys, I really am. . . I bought this shift knob 2 years ago. I'm searching for the invoice to see what catalog it came out of. In regards to your very, um, nice(?) offer EVO, HELL NO! :-) I love my cf knob, and my wood will soon be replaced with brushed aluminum-look sign vinyl with cf accents. But thanks anyway. In regard to autorice, yeah, he's the man. The issues were all started with one of two people who experienced problems with shipping once or something like that. He's in canada. His packages have to go through customs. This makes arrival dates a little more lose. But he's an awesome guy, has quality stuff, and he'll make something right if it doesn't seem to be.

and listen to the wise doc. . . he knows. yes, it does need shaft. the stock shifter is all one piece, whereas the newer ones are just the knob with the shaft already attached. (see the chrome part at the bottom of the shifter?)

I haven't been ignoring this thread, I've simply been waiting to see if I could find the answer for you guys.

Okay, guys. I have spent the last three days going through all of my paperwork to find this one invoice. I have good news and bad news.

good news: I have found it. I bought it from a company called Precision Auto Design in Campbell CA. I bought it almost 3 years ago to the day.

bad news: since 2000, it has merged with Performance Products. (you can check out their website at www.performanceproducts.com (http://www.performanceproducts.com)). Unfortunately, from what I've gathered going through the website, they no longer carry a carbon fiber shifter knob. Sorry guys. You're welcome to look more closely. . . I haven't really had time. The product number when I bought it was: WDS-031L-CARBON. And just to emphasize again. . . you do need the shaft for an older car (they say the years).

call performance products. they have a lot of stuff not listed on their website.

I got a momo knob on my car, its a porsche style knob I believe. it Looks great, and feels great too. I have the Combat Metal knob.

THe shaft adapts tot he newer style mercedes knobs, but that does not mean it wont work with aftermarket knobs. I simply modified the shaft of mine slightly by shortening it 1/2 inch. It now sits as low possible without hitting the shiftplate at the bottom.

so I would try to call them and ask them if they have any carbon fiber knobs. And you need to call them to buy the shaft too anyway.
