What do you guys think (please be open-minded)?
Me personally, I think it looks boring and is targeted to Joe Blow with a family who wants to have little NASCAR action. Furthermore, I dont understand why with a 3.8L supercharged engine, they only make what the old North American DOT restricted E36 BMW M3 did with an NA 3.2L engine... a measly 240hp

When will Chevrolet get it right? I liked the 1995 era Impala SS, that thing was kind of cool. This thing is lame-o.

Agree...this thing is lame.
My girlfriend's dad has one but its not the SS its the LS.
We make jokes about it and call it the "Pimpala".
Needless to say he worships the thing but different strokes for different folks.
EDIT: By the way isn't this the same engine thats in the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP? Why did they make this one only make 240 but the Grand Prix makes 260?

A good car in the first place?
3.8 liter is def. as American as the 8.2L V10 and the 3.7 V6 from Jeep.. Displacement rules in the U.S.
I would just get an Altima over that... 245hp and 0-60 in 6.1 sec.

My father is just renthing impala this week.
I test drive the car. It feels like driving a van and I don't think
this SS is very different then regular ones about handling.
I would choose pontiac if must buy
an american performance sedan car.

As an ex & probably future GM owner I have clought on this one. The '04 Impala was supposed to be a Holden Commodore packing an LS-1! To bad an accountant in the corporate office put a 'red stamp' on that?? Luckily North America will get the Holden Monaro as the '04 GTO'. It would seem more fitting to re-badge the V-8 rwd Commodore as the Impala SS since it will smoke the old LT-1 powered cop car impala of '94-'97 fame!!! Jus the facts?
Oh yhea, GM supposedly made 30 current model Monte Carlos rwd & one was given to the late Dale Earnhardt as a gift. Frikkin bean counters @ GM run the company not 'True' car people. Thats why I got an AMG now!
Good info 'under pressure'!!

That is absolutely true...somewhat. It was going to be a special edition Dale Earnhardt Carlo from the start...RWD packing the LS1. Thirty were supposed to be made...the first of these going to Dale himself. Dale's car arrived the day after he was killed. It now resides in the Earnhardt Racing Team's headquarters showroom, and has yet to be driven. The other 29 cars were never produced. My father got to go there through his company. He said that place is absolutely amazing.

I am all for 'Local Muscle' ;) An AMG would be nice, but the 'rawness' of my HSV is part of it's appeal, not to mention, simply amazing :D  :D

Thats because you're Richey Rich and your skateboard has Swiss bearings. My skateboard is not as fast because its a 1986 Nash Executioner with coned Slimeballs and rusted "Hartford" bearings. I did remove skid pad for weight reduction though...

Damn, man..you know you're old school....I had one of those things in bright orange....even with as thick as that thing was, it didn't take long to crack it. Afterwards, came the Caballero with construction paper (Bonite©) inserts.

Still that same ugly @$$ body. The mid 90s were PIMP and the old 6-4s. Not this one, not feeling it and not enough performance.

They should just pump some more power into that thing. Give it like 400hp. Then it would sell.
