I was looking at auto mart magazine, and i found an interesting BMW. here is a pic of it.
http://images.autotrader.com/images/2003/6/18/134/051/402271568.134051901.IM1.MAIN.565x421_A.562x421.jpg
It said its a 318ti with an M3 package...
little about the car (http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=134051901&dealer_id=87916&car_year=1997&make=BMW&distance=25&max_price=&model=318TI&advcd_on=n&end_year=2004&min_price=10&certified=n&address=30060&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1997&color=&cardist=5)
and $12,000
I wonna know what is a Ti package...my friend told me its a turbo, but how much horsepower does it make and since its an ///M package does that mean its got an m3 engine in it or what??
Elvir
LOL. Yea, it's got a turbo, and about 400 hp.

ha ha don't listen to hank hes just playing.
ti is just the name they gave to the coupe 3-series which is what you have pictured there. i don't know much about them but what i do know is they didn't do well here in the US and they are underpowered.
i've heard of people sticking M3 engines in this car which sounds pretty cool but they never came from the factory like that.

acutally a few did come from the factory. employees had the hatches fitted with the s52 engine for their personal cars...i will try to find the article in my bookshelf...but theres less then 5 i know that for sure.

lol.
Ok Elvir, for real dawg, you do NOT want to buy this car, for the following reasons:
a) It's the slowest of the slowest.
B) It looks so freaking 'YAG.'
c) $12k? Son of a bitch that's a lot! I can get you a '95 M3 for that much.
Reasons you want to buy this car:
a) That would make a good replacement for the Geo. But for the reasons above, it's not a good buy at all.

just FYI
This 318 ti is quciker that 318is(coupe) or 318i (4dr) because it is lighter.
The horsepower stock should be around 138hp /133lb-ft @4300
And it's only weight about 2800lbs..
a lot of enthusiat biy this an transplant E36 M3 engine some even have E36 M3 Euro (321 hp all motor ) in this chassis..
because ti is more nimble and quicker in the track...and off course weight less than regular coupe/4 door chassis....which will benefit you from the power to weight ratio..
starting 1996 all 318i/is/ti have 1.9L engine ...
and they also came with M3 front bumper, M3 side skirt and M rear skirt (Ti model) for sport package. (this sport package doesn't include M mirror though).
Are you thinking or trading your C280..??
Regardz,

Well since we know how Elvir operates, it's safe to assume that he won't be doing M3 transplants or anything drastic, but rather will put on some replica wheels and just call it a day. :D

My bro has a 318iC, the fact that its convertible is nice, but it does seem highly underpowered. 1.8Liter 4cylinder Naturally Aspirated :o But its a nice car, handles very well.

No Doc, im not planning on buying that car its just that it looked nice so i wondered if it had anything to back it up, obviously it does not...and BTW, no my car may not be the best on the street, but there is no way i would trade it for an 318, even if it was 2003

my first car was a 95 318i, automatic
the driving experience is much much different than on the c240. hella fun to drive.. didn't really care much about the acceleration or the buzzy engine.

FWIW, NONE of the kit on there is actually M3 spec, I was flirting with the idea of buying one in 1997. It all looks SIMILAR to M3 body work, but she ain't even close when you see it in person :D

heh heh after you swap out the mushy rear suspension.
thankfully the guy who designed the focus rear suspension worked on the suspension for the new 5th gen golf. finally fun to drive again.

If you are talking about the 318Ti, it doesn't have an ///M engine in it...if you are refering to the ugly shoe I believe you are talking about YOUR M coupe..correct? ;)
