What's the best and why? List tire brand and model.

You may choose more than one :)

it really depends on the car/driving conditions. On the Mazda, I used Bridgestone Dueler M/T, then Yokohama AT something or other, then some sort of Remington all-terrain, then Interco Super Swamper Thornbirds, then Dunlop Radial Rover R/T. Of those, I liked the Thornbirds simply because they were extremely loud and could sling mud 150' behind the truck. I liked the Bridgestone's because they were quiet enough to take long trips on, but still had adequate grip in the mud. I sold the truck with the Dunlops and they were cool because they were whisper quiet, but still aggressive, they were NINE (9) ply and there were holes on the outter lugs that you could screw spikes into to go on ice and snow.

On the Mustang, it came with Goodyear Eagle GTII's...those were the WORST tires I have ever purchased. After those came Sumitomo HTR ZII's. They looked awesome, had great lateral grip, and they were difficult but not impossible to smoke them off the line. About 2 months before that car got stolen, I installed a set of Yokohama AVS ES100's. I LOVED those tires. Perfect lateral and off the line grip, best wet weather tire, no slipping at all, were super quiet, and best of all, they had a damm-cool tread pattern.

On the Jeep, I currently have the OEM Goodyear Wrangler SR-A, which I absolutely hate. I'm still trying to decide what to put on it when I lift it up.

Pirelli. My current set's done 35000km and still has a good couple of thousands left - despite my "enthusiastic" driving style. :D Excellent dry & wet grip, no problems whatsoever.

Had more than one bad experience with Michelins...

Pirelli P-Zeros

Why...... max performance tires but yet still maintain comfortable and quite ride :) and I like the pattern especially on the P-Zero Yellow and Nero

Birdgestone Potensa S02 and S03 (S02 has a funky thread pattern that I like :D)

cool! i'm glad you gave a good review for those tires because I'm thinking of getting them in 215/40 zr-17 for my 190E.

I like Yokohamas as well...I have set on my stock wheels on my 190E and a set on my 'rents S320...good tires that offer a quiet and comfortable ride...priced really well too...;) :)

Thoroughly impressed with my Yokohama AVS V901 (AVS Winter)...

can't say the same with the Continental allseasons though..

Even tho I have Yoko's on my car right now, I think Pirelli is the better tire company.

yoko's all the way. pirelli's are too expensive, wear too easily, and I dislike the dead-spots that come from keeping your car still for 10 minutes.

for heavy car like MB and BMW I 'd get the XL (Extra Load configuration which now avaliable on P-Zero Nero) configuration which has stiffer and thicker inner sidewall to maximize stability and minimize flat spot..

No wonder tires which such stiff side wall like S-02 and S-03 never had this problem.. the downside is just these 2 tires feel a bit bouncher on uneven-road / rough road... ;)

If money was not an object, Michelin Pilot would be my choice (originally mounted on our Volvo 850 T5) – smooth, good handling and lasted around 60K miles…

Now, for the real life - after trying many different brands and models, we stopped on Sumitomo (you know, the “Other” brand), specifically HTR+ and here is why, I prefer not to have a very harsh ride, I do not want to change tires every season depending on the condition – I understand, there has to be a compromise, but I do not take the car to the track, and HTR+ provide a good overall balance of handling, quiet ride, not too harsh and last a good amount of time, also, these tires are non-directional, so if you have all 4 wheels of the same size, rotate all you want for the even wear…

On the other hand, here are few tires I definitely would not buy again:

Kumho Escta 712 – flat spots like there is no tomorrow! I had those on my W202, 17” staggered and on 850 T5. Also very noisy as the thread wears out.

Yokohama AVID H4 – said to be a "good" tire with all season capabilities and a long warranty – very sloppy handling, hydroplaning is present more then any other tire I’ve had and not sure about the warranty, while the wear is very even, 15K miles, less the 50% of the thread remaining on my B3 Audi 16"

I like Pirelli tires in general, but in my experience are way to susceptible to the bubbles from the small potholes where other tires will simply ignore… Had P-7000on 850 T5 in 17”

These are just my personal experiences and no intent to hurt anyone’s feelings if you love any of the above ;)

HAHA funny i was just talking with a friend about this

my vote
1. Bridgestone- best bang for the $$, a bit on the nosiy side but i really dun mind about that since i alreadu have the boom boom exhaust and the intake all going, great handling both in wet and dry (S-01, S-02, S-03, RE92, RE71, RE730, RE88, RE950, Eager)
2. Mich- haven't really used there high performance tires but i have hear a lot of good things about it the down side is VERY $$$$ (MXV4-rated V)
2. Dunlop- cheaper than the BS's but is a softer compound aka wears out quicker but is a bit quiter than the BS, wet track is not as good as BS but still up there (D40M2, SP8000)
3. Perilli- They are pretty good really quite decent treadwear not too high on performance maybe is just the ones that i've used (P6000 rated H & V)
4. Conti- good handling but short life, uneven wear caz the rubber tends to chip off the sides (contisport contact)
5. Falken- cheap and good handling but SUPER soft rubber i wear'em down to the BONE in less than 8000 miles(GR-B ZR)

unrated: Yokos: they are very very noisy dunno how they really handle since i only had those on for about a week or so (520)

I have use all 5 of these brands

Bridgestone Potenza FE750, very similar to the SO-3 but not as heavy and better rain traction, And less expensive! :)

I have the Bridgestone's in the back and Michilen Pilot Sports in the front on my M3.

On the 190E-16 i have some Dunlop Sports, they suck. Next on that are the Yoko ES100 or the Bridgestone's.

I've always had great experience with Falken. And the tires usually last me about 20k a set, making them well worth the money. The worst tires I've ever has would be Continentals without a question.
