I'm about to take out all the wood and cover it with sign vinyl this weekend. Also, I'm going to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and replace the LEDs under the switches. Can anyone give me tips/instructions on how to take out all the wood? I also need to get out my gauges. Thanks in advance guys!

To take out the gauges, you need to take out the instrument cluster with either the cluster puller tools, or get two wire coat hangers and bend them up until you have a nice hook. Use that hook or the puller tools at the top side corners of the instrument cluster, then pull hard but GENTLY. You don't want ot fcuk up the wires back there.

The wood on the doors is pretty easy. Just take out hte door panels and you will see how to take the wood part out.

The wood on the dash (if you have wood there) is a royal PITA. The correct way of removing it is to remove the dash. Scott (run.exe) has used another method but it is also a royal PITA.

ok, here goes...

Instrument Cluster is easy, but sometimes a PAIN in the A$$...
all you have to do, is pull it out...Mercedes has special tools that go in and help you pull it out....its basically a metal hanger with the very tip of it bent so that it forms a hook...u can make something like that easily...then reach behind the gauges and unscrew the speedo cable while it is till kind of IN...then just pull it out and disconnect the wires...

now, the wood is somewhat easier...the dash wood i do not know how to remove..i just put he vinyl on while it was in place...

the door panels have to come off in order to remove the wood on the doors, that easy...pull out the little trianlge piece at the top of the panel where the rearview mirror sits. unscrew the doorpin, unscrew the little black C shaped plastic piece in the mmiddle of the door. pull off the outside trim for the door handle and seat controls carefully...remove the bolt, unplug wires, pull out metal rod that connects to handle, then Pull the entire panel UP and out...ur done...u will see the bolts holding the wood in place...

the center console it easy...if you car has the compartment with the sliding door, open that door, and remove 2 screws from the inside front that hold it in place, use bright light to find them...once that is out...the wood itself has a screw or two holding it i beleive, remove...then just pull up on the wood and disconnect everything from it...

the panel above the radio is just 2 screws JUST above where the radio is, then just pull out...and voila!!!! WOOD IS GONE!!

i hope that i was of some help...

now, when you put the bulbs in, document it, cause i am going to be doing that to my 300D soon, i would like some help in that...

thanks...

The 1987 is easy to do... I guess the 89+ is a bit different because they have more wood...
