Okay, so I suppose I have been working too much, because it completely slipped my mind to tell you guys that I had the whole top end and front of my motor redone last week. Wow what a difference.

Here is the basics of what I had done:

Headgasket replacement - damn 104
Timing chain and tensioner replacement - cheap insurance
Front cover reseal - minor leaks
Cam U seal replacement - minor leaks

Complete valve job - all valves replaced, head was reground and the ports were cleaned and milled to remove deposits, dirt, etc. No extranous material was removed, so the head is as AMG intended. The guides and seals were also replaced.

Holy Cow- the car feels so good now. My mechanic said that the timing chain had about 3 deg of scretch in it, so not too bad, but enough to be robbing some power. The cleaning of the ports and new valves made a hell of a difference thought. You can really feel the power rush in at about 2800 rpm, as oppose to the 3200 it used to come in at. Nothing helps an engine like letting in breathe.

I took her for a nice run down to LA last weekend after some around town driving to let everything settle in. Damn, Damn, Damn. The car moves from 80 to 120 in about a blink of you eye. So happy with it and she is ready for another 125k miles.

Just thought I would share.

I think it's the ports and head that allows more breathing...

I got a great deal from a buddy on the work. He does top notch work and is a mechanic for an MB shop here in the area, but we did this on the side. It ran me about 2200 with parts, labor, rental, etc. So considering the cost of the parts alone this was a steal.

wow, $2200 doesn't sound bad! Would your friend entertain doing this on another C36 in the future? :D

Im not sure exactly cause i was not shown visually where its located exactly, but its this small somewhat oragne almost see through donut looking object, looks similar to the spring pad, but much smaller, and it goes below the head gasket, and the oil is leaking from there also..it cost only $15 bucks, but the labor is gonna be around $350..mabye more or less

Perhaps, but I don't think your car has the miles mine does. So I am not sure you would see the all benefit that I did. But I can run it by him.

How many miles does your C36 have? Mine just hit 100,000 last night.

I would consider this sometime in the future, maybe not now....but this is good stuff to think about.
