Here is an update on my service experience (see below for results). Initially I was happy that they actually found things that were wrong and replaced them. They had the car a week, probably because they took the whole transmission apart. Upon returning to my car, I found that several problems still existed. The "whirring¨ noise is still there, and what is worse, the thing is running like crap now. Feels like it is missing or something. You can hear it when parked and revving the engine, and can feel it under hard acceleration. Hope it isn't f'ed up too bad. Took it back in today. Will report back.

Sorry for the funky formatting:
o - what was wrong
,,X - what they did.

Any comments?

- Always:
o Check engine light
„X Replace O2 sensor
o Whirring noise in engine <still
„X Idler pulley - replaced
o Water leaks through doors, especially RF.
„X Drain plugs plugged
o Seatbelt rattle on driver side.
„X Cracked trim- replacing
o Clicking noise in rear end when backing up.
„X Lubed bushings but still makes noise.
o Driver's side mirror doesn't tilt up enough
„X Broken, replacing, fixed
o Trunk hinge, right side, needs to be lubed.
„X Lubed
o Rt rear door, hard closing, need to slam.
„X Fixed door check, didn't fix the problem.
o Console
„X Fixed

- Intermittent:
o Gas gauge, intermittently, stays on empty, with reserve light on <again
„X Replaced sending unit
o Transmission sometimes ¡§clunks¡¨ (rough shift) when up/down shifting (usually 2-3 or 3-2).
„X Smelled burned fluid, relaced Sun gear

Before I got them to take me seriously I heard various reasons,

"they all do that"
The catalysts (?)
oil pump

Since I had the Idler pulley replaced, another guess, could it be the timing belt?

Hey WeatherMan, I have had some of those other failures in the past too :(

Seems like the tranny IS a problem, I have seen other posts where they said that it was replaced at 60K. I only have 32K on it, WhyTF would I need the sun gear replaced? Sheesh...

Hey Rocky, I must say you are a patient person if you had an actual lemon, but came back for more...

Update on the update -
They called today and said they couldn't find anything wrong. I'll tell them to check the airbox and vacuum lines too.
Thanks.
