Run with Contour SVT (1998)

I gave a Contour SVT a good run on 101S head back from SJ to SLO today

1998 contour SVT: black with 18in rims dropped 2 people in his car but everything else is stock i think it got either 170 or 190 hp but only like 166lb/ft torque or something and 2.5 v6

so i was cruzing at 70 ish and he was coming up fast so i let him pass by and started chasing after his ass (about 2 CL behind him) at 85-90mph...

he wanna kick me lose but he can't hs is try very very hard to lose me as i am flooring it all the way going 100................110.......................120.. ..by then i am starting to push on him and closing up............125................now i am about 1 CL behind ..........as i glanced down i was at almost 130mph so i eased off as there was a car in front of him.....

then i kept on his tail and it opend up again so once again this time from 90 mph i was 1.5 CL behind this time and as we approach to about 120mph again i started pushing and catching up on him slowely.......i got next to him at about 1/2 a CL but then there was a car on my lane so i had to brake and eased off

if i would have more road i would have passed him :D but still i was pushing at 120-125mph hee hee

(whew it has been a while since the last time i took it up that speed with this car)

PS i was in the Benzo of course (C280)

Im not saying that my car could take it, my car is pritty slow, but knowing all the mods that you have i expected better, and its like you said it only has what 170-190 hp...

but it only weights around 3000lbs which is like almost 300lb less than the c280

and it is a SVT car

PLUS my car is still limping around with the lifters

I raced, though shortly, fearing the po po, VodkaG on the freeway. I spanked him.

Conclusion? SVT contour has nothing on me. (bad deduction).

SVT Contours are pretty quick. Ford did a good job transforming that car for what they charge. It's faster than a stock C280, so for Vodka to hang and gain somewhat is impressive in that context.

I had a chance to run a Contour SVT last year. Kind of the same thing. He was coming up fast to pass me on the freeway, about 100mph as i was already at 80 and he was hauling. Once he got next to me I floored it. With my reaction time he had about 2 CL lead, but I quickly maintained that and gained, then stayed next to him on purpose. He didn't have much to pull ahead after 100mph. But the SVT was no slouch. It was not bad at all imho.

psst tell me about it.....when there is NO GOOD MECHANIC SHOP here in SLO town i have to drive to either LA or Bay on a WEEKDAY drop it off and hitch a ride back to SLO

that's the problem so that's why i am lagging on it :(

but i am def aiming during my next vacation (probably in Nov) to bring it down to Taylor to get the lifters fixed (and probably replace the head gaskets while i m at it and redo the timing on the cams etc.)

I know there are a number of Saturn mods...but I didn't know it was going to put out that much HPs

I don't think I have a real C36 because my iterior isn't CF like the ones i see in Europe. So maybe that's why I couldn't hang!
