brake light number

What type of bulb is the brake light mounted at the bottom of the rear window in a w124? Is it an 1156?

I don't think its 1156. But 1156 can be used.
The correct bulb is a 21W single filament. Sorry I can't remember the number but the bulb is marked as european at pepboys and other places.

the reason I'm asking is because I'm going to do the LED bulb upgrade, and need to know what kind of bulbs to buy. If someone could find out for me, it'd be much appreciated.
