View Full Version : Who? 202 projectors?

On one of these Benz forums I saw some cat trying to convert M-Class headlight projectors into his C-Class?

Has anyone seen this done? Or are there C-Class projectors out there to buy now? I mean, damn, what is the W202 chopped liver? I don't think so!!

I so want them for my 98' 230

that would be C_klass i think

I did a search on C_klass and I am not coming up for anything. Was it this forum? (not trying to be a smart ass) but how come this isn't important to anyone else? I think project assemblies would be sick as hell on the W202.

Any suggestions? I wonder if this guy was able to pull this off. I am tempted to have someone custom build me something..

..So in my research, I can see a buttload of projectors for ricers for like $129 for some of the sickest projectors I have seen for Hondas and crap. I am jealous. I wonder if someone would build me (fabricate and machine) a set of of those ricer or even a set of Benz projectors from another model? What I am worried about is not the physical modifications that's required to implement the projector assemblies in a set of new headlight assemblies, but how my ECU is gonna react. I don't want my computer to have a panic attack because it's seeing something new that wasn't in the computers voltage map.

(I am still scratching my head why no one has came out with some projector assemblies for the W-202 yet)

Steve?? what's your take on this?

I think it'll just look weird in the headlight shape we have. I saw the pics and it doesn't look right. Kinda like adding angel eyes...

Really? I don't agree, I think this is a hugely necessary upgrade due to the increasingly newer body styles. The 202 body shape has been around since 94, and with projector assemblies, I think it will update the look to a newer more up to date look. As time passes, it's almost as if the 202 is starting too look like a my old 190E in my opinion. Ok, not that old, but I really want projectors.
I think it's a critical upgrade and should be persued.

I believe that is was slammed_C that was undertaking this project. I haven't seen an update since he started though...

did a search on slammed_C, and I didn't come up with anything with the search function. Was it on this forum?

Yep it was on this forum!! and YES..I'm the one making the W202 projectors out of 2002 ML500 headlights. havent really workek on them recently.. worked out a couple problems but havent done anything else to them....I will be gettin on them again soon tho.
I think the thread was...damn cant find it..might have been erased in the crash last week.
I'll do some more work on them and post some more pics... they will be Bi-xenon (low and high beam xenon) and they will have dual projectors in each headlight. but only one projecot is really functional..I will move the fog light to where the high beam is and have it as a projector foggy!!

I think you're gonna be able to pull it off physically, but I am worried what your computer is gonna do. Hopefully, it will just shrug it's shoulders and nothing will happen.

I hope it's all positive stuff. Thanks for the info!

i dont think the compueter will do anything b/c all you are doing is just changing the lense on the head lights all the electronics are the same.

i am willing to try to do it, but have to wait till i can source up some doh for and extra set of lights and projector head lights. the only reall problem i can think of is when you mold the projector light on to the 202 housing you have to be really carefull to get both side identical and make sure they aim at the right angle. that will look really ugly if one is aiming up and the other is aim slight lower.

good luck if you do do it.

I've already started hacking away at my W202 headlights!! got one of them cut apart to fit the ML projector into the W202 housing! so theres no turning back now!!
and I got all the parts for free anyway.......both W202 headlights and both ML500 headlights.
I'll post pics as progress continues..dont u worry!

lol...actually I worked on them today!! its been a bit longer than 10mins tho!!

actually 714guy....I'm not only changing the headlight lense, I'll be making a custom clear one out of plastic, the elcetronics from the car to the headlight will be the same..but all the elcetronics inside the headlight will be different, I will basically use the ML500 wiring and probably make some of my own using the same gauge wire to connect the projector up and wire the whole headlight.

but I did work on my headlight today, figured out how I'm gonna mount the projecotr lense for the fog light and loosly mounted it to see what it looks like, and I also made the bi-xenon projecotr fit a lil nicer, I havent permanently mounted anyhting as I want to make sure everything is perfectly aimed. it looks sweet tho!!

My car's going into Yonge and Steeles sometime next week to get a new tranny installed.

BTW, everyone check out the GTG board. I'm trying to put something together.

A while back i bought a set of halo projectors for a civic in hoping to hack them to fit in the W202...just haven't had time. I had talked to Steve about it, and he suggested maybe modding the previous SL headlights...might be an easier route...but definitely not cheaper...

The lens will have to be changed if you want the set to be functional..otherwise the cut pattern on the lens might make the conversion not worth it...though it would be cool to see what it would look like...

I'm looking into a company that might make a projector headlight for the 202..stay tuned...
