No it's easy. Just use a hairdryer if you are afraid to use a heat gun. Wave it back and forth for a few minutes (if you take the liner off, you can do this from the inside of the trunk lid as well).

Then take dental floss (make sure it's the waxed type) or fishing wire and 'saw' it back and forward slowly until the numbers come off. I used dental floss and found it more than strong enough for the task.

The only thing is that depending on how old you car is, there may be a lot of glue residue left on the trunk after the badges have been removed. Use a clay bar or any other mild surface cleaner to remove it. Then make sure you wax over this area as it has been hidden for years.

OK this is what I did instead of dental floss, Use a heat gun just becareful as far as how hot you get it, not much hotter than a summer in the sun on a black car and you will be fine. I personally have always used a plastic cooking spatula (pronounced spatchula Im sure this word is missspelled!LOL) to peel away the badge working slowy to get the crap off(this wont scratch a thing!). Then I use lighter fluid( the stuff u use in Zippo lighters, its VERY CHEAP) to remove the rest of the adhesive(it wont hurt the paint) then I personaly use Meguires Cleaner Wax to clean the area then use what ever wax that u would use above and beyond!!

Trust all of us, you will really like the results once they're gone!
Best of luck!!!!

(Johnson & Johnson) Dentotape is stronger... and has a larger surface-area.

Some suggestions above, and I've heard people using "Goof Off" the stuff that removes the adhesive left by bumper stickers and decals. 3M makes a trim adhesive remove, which makes sense since they make the trim adhesive, but that seems like overkill for a small job like this.

Lighter fluid will strip the wax too.

I use bug and tar remover. That's not supposed to strip the wax. Also, you would wait for the dirt to stick to the residue and then wash the car again. Then it'll all be gone... and awesome.
