Hello:

I am new to this forum but have been following a majority of the email threads which always appear to be interesting and helpful. My concern is with my 1996 C220. I just bought it and love it tremendously, but am curious as to what Cost Effective Upgrades I can possibly do with this car, just short of forced induction. I have had experience in other platforms from Japanese to German, but not MB specifically. Note: If engine swaps are included in this conversation, then I would opt to wait until I can pick up a C36 or E55...as is the normal dream..:)

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

there realy isn't to much to do, just exhuast and intake really without dropping lots of money. Turbo is what you really want, there are a few members on here that can help you out with that and on Club202.com (sista site).

On may car i just have and intake and exhuast and that probably about it. the rest of my money went towards appearance, since i just want to curise, it'll take to much money for me to go fast.

hopes this help.

thanks 714 for the reply.. I figured this would be the case. Its no problem though. I can do the basics. Any suggestions on the best selection or options for intake and exhaust?

Welcome!! Like Jason said, there's not much that you can get done without FI. Go for some nice 18"s that would be pretty sweet.

Besides straight lines speed, you can really tighten up the suspension and make it a pretty fun car throughout the curvies!

I have an intake with a head shied woorks pretty good, and a brabus exhuast also good. If i were to do it over i would cut the bottom of the intake box and route a 3inch tubing from the front of the bumper into the box. Then maybe change the filter out for something else. Exhuast side i would get a magnaflow muffler and then some tips, really affordable and works good. Check out club202.com there loads of info on there. oh yeah and stickers ;)

Thanks Brabus, Hank, 714 and SpeedyTe for all replying. You guys are great. I will definitely do the intake, header and exhaust. Possibly wheels as well. As for the intake and header, what brands do you suggest or at least to consider. It appears that Magnaflow is a good choice for exhaust. Could I still get away with a better filter insert, or an actual intake setup?

I will also go and take a peak at Club202..
