1) unscrew the 10mm bolt from underneath (you will need a long socket-extender)
2) pull forward
3) stop when 85% of the way out; remove the electrical airbag contacts
CAUTION: removing the cover will do you no good: the airbag is directly behind it...

Question.....where did you get the chrome mercedes emblem on the steering wheel and how did you attach it?
Thanks Chris

the car is a 93, when i got my hands on it, it was STOCK. There were 2 recalls that the car had not had done, both involved airbabgs, driver and pass. when i brought the car in to the dealer, they did the recalls, when i picked it up, it had that chrome star on the wheel, that piece is actually BRAND NEW...
i was as shocked as you would think...i was soooooo happy, it looked SOOOOOOO nice compared to the non-chrome star that the car came with....
CAUTION: removing the cover will do you no good: the airbag is directly behind it...
Scott...
Can I remove the airbag contents, use that area as storage for the PS2 and still use the lid on hinges to close and cover the PS2???
thanks guys....

Yes, you certainly CAN remove the airbag (keeping only its cover-piece); I'll just be sure NEVER to be your front-seat passenger!!!
G: "You like that PS2, huh? Pretty tight!"
Passenger: "Hell yeah! This setup is OFF THE - ISHHHHHHH... LOOK OUT!!!"
(SCRRREEEEEEEEEEEECH / BAM!!!! / POOF!!!)

bad idea. I say make a braket under the dash in the passenger foot well.
I' gonna check for recalls too. I haven't done that. I want a chrome star too!

Scott...
I took a quick look under the dash, there are 2 8mm bolts there, i didnt see a 10mm one. Where is that one located? Also, once thats off, will the cover just slide out??? Thanks...
Honestly, I am not too woried about the airbag not working on that side, I ALWAYS make my passenger wear their seat belt...
also, look at it this way, whats up with cars that dont have Pass. side airbags???
thanks for the info, I will post pics as soon as I work on this...
Doc...
I would make a bracket for under the dash, but that will cut out ALOT of leg room for passengers...and not LOOK as SWEET as it would in the dash...

I love it when people say they're not worried about life safety systems . . . especially when they're removing it for a gaming system. As an aside, make sure you notify your insurance carrier about the change. If you don't it could provide them with a reason to exclude coverage if there is a passenger injury claim someday.

with your head on the floor of the passenger-side footwell, your back straining against the foot-sill, and your legs splayed out the side of the car like you're sellin' somethin' - look straight up towards the sky, with a mini-Maglite flashlight. see the quarter-sized hole?
NOW you're cookin' with ethylene!!!
(EDIT @ 1026 hrs PDT TUE 03JUN03: careful... don't let the bolt fall into your EYE... it's HEAVY!!!)
