View Full Version : How to wire bling bling mirrors on a W202?

Well today I got my bling bling mirrors (Thank you Steve-o!)
Now Steve did the connector thingy for me. I'm gonna take the mirrors to the bodyshop to have them painted, and then what the hell do I do? Just plug them in and that's it? What if I plug them in and then there's nothing blinking?
What do I do?
Bling bling mirrors pimps, I summon you! Steve, Joey, Susanto...anyone! :D

I just did and my nose started bleeding. :P
?NAh but seriously, you just plug it and that's it? I also have some extra connector that says something like "Ground" and whatever. I Forgot. I gotta look at it again.
The mirrors are at the bodyshop now gettign sprayed black from the funky cream taxi color.

Is it only blinking w/o folding? If it's only blinking the easy way is to tap yours wires with your turn signal lights. + to + - to -. ;) :)

Why? Did I gave u some mis-leading info. or you just don't know
how to do it yourself..... :P :) What seems to be wrong on tapping your wires to your signal lights? Making a left or right turn you put on your signal does your corner lights blinks? If it don't then u got a busted bulb. You see the picture now........

I also got a blinking mirrors on my car plus folding.
Folding one's are more complicated to install plus
you need to cut a hole for the switch. If u r not careful in cutting
that hole u might end up buying a brand new wood on your shifter.

How difficult can it be? You got a set of blinking mirrors with changed connectors that directly fit onto the car of your sister due to the already changed connectors (I make it way too easy).
Then there is a dimmed driverside glass that is connected with a 8pin oval connector that is already in the car...ADD 2 WIRES TO THIS 8PIN OVAL CONNECTOR like stated on the paper: 5=GROUND & 6=POWER FOR THE BLINKER...
For the passenger side such an oval 8pin connector is separately added. If you are lucky, your sister's car already has the doorrelated folding wires (1 wire in green and 1 wire in yellow color)...if so: you only need to hook these up at the Apillar in the car to ground and blinker (these wires will be unconnected at the Apillar).
If you don't have the luck of having these folding wires prewired in that car you need to run the blinking wires from mirror to incar...
blinking wires are black colored...1 has a white line the other one has a green line...

ahaha crap Im still cluless. I'm gonna go take it to Susanto :P
Also Steve, the right (passenger) mirror doesn't fit the cover. The bodyshop did it in front of me, and it's all weird. I'll take pics to show you. Basically the mirror has a gapon top of it between it and the cover. Weird... And you can't adjust it either, doesn't work. I'll double check to see if they didn't F- it up.

the mirrors fit perfectly...where is the picture of the gap...
I have seen bodyshops painting mirrors complete with rubbers and everything else that was in their way just because they couldn't figure out how to pull the unlocked covers of the mirrors, so as far as I am concerned bodyshops know...

Steve, I didn't have time to take a pic, studying and all. I will though today (I'll try!).
The bodyshop did remove the covers, no worries. They even removed the blinkers. I checked, it's all painted in the inside, no ghetto stuff here. The mirror that is causing the problem, is the mirror that was already apart when it came in the mail. The driver mirror was in one piece, but the passenger's (the one in question) had the cover over it, but it wasn't clipped it and therefore just could slid right out upon opening.

Both covers slided right off...hence the reason why there is a piece of tape with "unlock" inside the mirror.
That clip needs to be popped up before the covers are finally put on (otherwise you will losse them within a few miles).

greetingz,
As far as I know both covers are now locked in tight. BAsically the passenger mirror "hangs low." I didnt see the bodyshop put it on, but my dad did (I had to leave and only saw him put the left one on), and he said he couldn't figure out why it wasn't lined up right. Weird :( I'm kinda hoping it was a bodyshop mistake and that it's not in place correctly.

Salut Mike,
I will explain you in French, because it's easier for me, using technical words...:D
http://lazajo.free.fr/IMGA0092.JPG
