C43 Vs CLK430

On my way home from the ghetty at like 4:30am last night, I was on 137th when some dropped silver CLK430 was pacing me. I looked over to him but couldnt see the driver because of the tinted mirrors. Sure enough, I know he was gunna run my C43. We paced each other at 30mph for a while and then he punched it first. I dropped my C43 from 4th down to 2nd gear and punched it. I gained back the jump he got on me within a few seconds. As I got into 3rd gear, I pulled about 1/2 a car and kept it there the whole way till we shut down at about 110mph. Now that was fun. Its races like that that leave me with a smile on my face for the rest of the week. What was interesting was that both pack 4.3L V8s (though mine is AMG tuned), but I doubt he knew that. The CLK430s are supposed to pull off low 14s in the 1/4 if im correct. Im pretty sure whoever in that CLK was surprised they got beat by a W202 chasis.

Bottom line... W202 + M113.43 owns W208 + M113.43!!!!

I've built exhaust system both on CLK43 and C43.. and dyno'd the gain on both also. The baseline alone put the C ahead by 10 or so HP on the rear wheels.

for some reason i read in magazines that the C43 does the 1/4 in 14.4 and the CLK430 does it in 14.2......how strange!!!

Well the test is not really valid since the number could be affected by the weather factor i.e: humidity/temp etc...


If they car is tested on the same day at around the same time and elevation then the number is good for comparions C43 cs CLK430...;)

now that interesting the C is heavier than the CLK??? well i guess it is since is a 4 door vs a 2 door

and correct me if i m wrong....the CLK does share the chassis with the C-class correct??

you dont realy have to downshift, i just do it for fun.... remember the kickback switch at the end of the throttle!!! Just hit that and it downshifts on its own!!!!

What wheels do you have ? I think the MBUSA numbers for the C43 are wrong. They say something like 0-60 in 6 sec. I bet it's more like 5.6-5.7 .

Plus, it's running those heavy Mono blocks, lose those and you could save 60 pounds of (unsprung ?) weight. C43 should beat a CLK430 no problem, mono's or not.
