Hey guys,
I decided to go black with my rear deck. My old parchment one was really ugly because it was dirty, stained, faded, and the first aid kit strips were cracked. Well, I bought this black rear deck that can only be found in the European models with black cloth interior. I like it because it's in perfect condition, and goes with the other black accents of the car and the new black audio trunk setup. I painted the speaker housings and rear brake light to match. I'll take some more pics tomorrow. Let me know what you think.

looks nice...you should consider dying the "piping" on your seats, head rests, and arm rests black to get a black/tan theme going...if you really have the time and effort...i think that'll look real sweet...:)

YEAH! I really want to do this. Should I use the same technique as RUNEXE or Scott to do this with the dye? I don't have leather, but MBTEX, but I do have the piping that I want black, so what product should I use and where can I get it?

Why is the rear deck only available in Europe? You had black interior in the US as well as far as I know :P
Do cars fitted with leather/MB-Tex have a different rear deck??

Well, for one I have never seen a US 190E with a black interior. The only one's I have seen are in Europe where they are either black cloth interior...which I haven't seen in the US, or the avantgarde leather interior. Same rear deck though for all 190's. Although some didn't come with a rear brake light.

I've seen black interiors in 16 Valve 190E and in the 1993 2.6 Limited Edition (Black Leather w/ Red inserts). I don't remember if the rear decks were black though...

RARE! I've just never seen a black interior on a non-16V U.S. 190E. If they exist, then I guess I'm wrong. No big deal though....what the thread is about is what you think of the interior.

We are all discussing what the dealership calls the "(rear) hat-shelf," mind you...
