So I keep seeing the Sylvania TV add for these HID wannabees. The Silverstar Halogens. Which one of these part #'s fits the 202 for the headlight & foglights inside the main housing?? I would like to try them & have minimal investment but nice reward instead of shelling $1,250 for the Bosche kit. Anyone?

can't help you out on which one to get, but I must say that Silverstars look like stock lights

Hey,
If you want bulbs that are better than OEM and brighter (so u can see more), then I suggest Philips Silver Vision Pluses. You have to order them overseas (UK). I got mine for $33 (including ship) and they are worth it. They burn white vs stock's yellow and u can tell a difference between them. Some say they are same color as stock, but when I compare, they are noticible (sp?) as white.

For older w202's 94-96, the main bulbs are H4's. The fogs are H3.
97-00, I believe the main bulbs are H7? Not sure on the fogs, but you can check your manual if you fall into the 97-00 years...it will say in the back.

BTW, the site I ordered from is www.powerbulbs.com Shipping is quick (about 4-5 days, as it is coming from the UK).

Good luck!

Damn guys those sylvania silverstars are a waste of money.....there not even that white and the use they same wattage as stock bulbs. Either Get HID's or get some bulbs of a performance shop. I have Nokya bulbs and put 40 more watts to my light and they look white and awesome.

Before I bought those PIAA lamps, I tried out the silverstars and they were BS. On the carton, it shows that it produces a purplish/white light, but it's allll yellow. They were as bright as the stock philips halogens that were on my car. Plus i paid like...40 bucks for them too.

Get yourself some PIAA's if you want really good looking halogen lights.

I had some SilverStars on my ride before I upgraded to euros and HIDs, and they were deece! I mean, they're not HID replacement at all. They're white, that's it. If you want color, you're going to get ricer bulbs and sacrifice intensity for color. My buddy and I both upgraded to SilverStars at the same time. They looked COMPLETELY different in my 300E as verses his Probe. Mine they looked pretty white, they were bright, and alright. In his, they had the tiniest blue tint to them, and were so ungodly bright I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, the early MB's have sucky-ass lights. I don't know when this was fixed, but it's worth a shot. Just lettin' you know some first-hand experience.

I replaced mine with the silverstars! They are yellow and stockish. A waste of $ IMHO. :)

I have those bulbs in my car, they work really well. You can't compare them to HID's so if that's what you looking for you're SOFL. I got mine for $6 a pair so I can't complain anyways!

I might just go ahead & play with some yellows for the inboard fogs(H3) for now. That would be different on a 202 I think. There is no replacement for HID's I agree. $1,200 for new clear glass housings, ballasts & bulbs is a great deal considering it is also a 'plug & play' OEM set-up!

for yellows for the fogs, get the PIAA Ion Crystal bulbs. I've had them in for 3 years now, and they're AWESOME! Great color, and they really help in heavy weather. Plus, they look so unique. They're yellow in the center of the beam, but when you get to the outside of it, it's definitely green-ish. Totally kick-ass. Give 'em a try, you won't regret them , I swear!

Don't know if they're the same, but I got Osram Silverstars. Not very white, but they are definately an improvement over the stock lights (which aren't too great in RHD either). I've got them in low and high beam, and the latter has improved quite a bit, my Dad drove my car recently and mentioned that the lights (esp. high beam) are good.
I think I paid about $12 per pair. :)

Not the same. Osram Silverstars do not have a blue coating.

Just get an aftermarket HID kit. Much better and pretty easy to wire up!
