steve told me once that its a kinda risky thing to buy from there. you can either get great deals and awesome sellers or some really really bad sellers. i have only used US ebay once and i had a great time with it but from what i hear the risks are about the same. being that its a foreign ebay though, the risks are higher.

I bought alot of stuff on ebay germany, Usually they don't know what paypal is so the only form of payment is bank transfer.Just check the feedback of the seller and you'll be fine. You'll be amazed how mb parts are cheap in ebay germany.Goodluck

I've bought 2 items from German e-bay (Shaetz grill frame/insert and OEM European instrument cluster) for my 190E. I send the money through Western Union. All my dealings have been positive.

After 6 transactions, no problem with German E-Bay. Even if the seller's description says that he'll only ship within Germany, that's not usually the case. Payment via wire transfer (C2it from Citibank) since Paypal hasn't made a big impact over there, although there are some european sellers that have Paypal accounts. Must be a banking thing.

I think Google can give you a very rough approximation of what they are saying: Main page -> Langauge tools

Very rough...

For those of you that occasionally use CitiBank's C2it.com to wire money, the service is being discontinued as of November 9, 2003, so it's still a bargain ($10 per wire) until then.

I've bought several models off of ebay.de and never had a problem. Paid with international money orders.

I'm using German eBay on a regular base, have got 111 positive feedbacks until now

OK OK, I am German... :D

I guess German eBay is not worse than US eBay or any other eBay. You can be lucky or have bad luck, just as always.
And yes, although I usually state "ship to Germany only" I make exceptions. Some guy from Crete bought my old instrument cluster, paid 50 EUR for the cluster and almost 40 EUR for shipping ...

About Paypal: It's really not famous here. I've used it, but within the European Union you can make wireless transfers without extra fees, so that is the usual way to go. Paypal charges fees for credit card payments, transferring the money from Paypal to my bank account, this really adds up.

Yea, I understand there are no fees for bank transfers in Germany, but in the US, your 1. Lucky if the bank staff knows how to do it and 2. Your charged between 20-40 including the US/Euro conversion fees.

I get Euro bank checks at no charge and most all sellers I have dealt with will accept this and ship the item once it has been cashed. Western Union gets expensive if you purchase something for more than $100.
