Which do you like better? (Note: I lowered the car via photoshop. This will be how low after cutting springs.)

paint

and the bumper too

and everything that os black

that's the good part about having a black car, the black plastic parts are fluid with the color of the car

It's the whole AMG bumper from a second gen kit....the material is smooth to begin wth so paint comes out looking like body material...thanks for the compliments :)

Decided to paint it..keep the car low frofile looking. Might as well repaint my eyebrows at the same time. (If I can only find them...parent's might have thrown them out when they did some spring cleaning of the garage.)

No paint, unless you're going to paint it all; bumpers and all...

Scotty -

Having started my Mercedes-Benz modding frenzy with my (ex-) 1989 190E 2.6, here are my humble suggestions:

1) update your lower cladding/side body moldings to the 1989+ style (entire lower covers, versus single strip) 190E pieces;
they will make your ride look much more massive and up-to-date! here are some pictures of my old 190E 2.6:

http://www.nemonis.net/images/190E_2.6/index.html

{edit: yes, this was the "RUN.EXE training project!!!"}

:cool:

2) paint your cladding the same color as your car - i.e. - the "monochromatic " look (see link, above, for pictures)

3) try to find a 2.3-16 front and rear valances (see link, above, for pictures); paint them the same color as the car body

4) the only way to get a smooth (seamless) front impact-strip is via professional bodywork:

You ride is very clean, as is; I only mean to share with you my thoughts/experiences... no disrespect or "heaviness"
is intended, my friend. You have every right to be prod of your car - right now! Life is too short to let it slip by!!!

Wow, I did not know that this thread would bring so many comments. Thanks everyone.

Some things have come to my head about my car that I want to write down....Ok Scott. First, I agree that I should not paint anything unless I go the whole route, and agree with what you said about getting the updated panels and bumpers. Also, I will definitely go mono, no doubt about it. I love the color of my car, and having it all one color would look great, but if I'm going to paint, I need to acquire all the panels and stuff, which may take a lot of money. There are about three +89 190E's at the local euro junkyard that have nice looking panels. Maybe I can score them for cheap there. As for the 16V bumpers, I doubt I can score those for cheap. Generally, it feels like I just got over a big hump with my car, lately spending $600 in mechanical parts and labor to get her in perfect running condition for her new home in Cali....ohh, plus new wood which was still a restoration mod. That only leaves small money for real progressive mods, which really hurts me. Guess that's the hard part about modifying an older car, you keep up the car mechanically, while modernizing it. Shit man, I have come so far with my car, and have SOOOOOO very far to go. Ohh well, when I get to San Fran I think modding will be easier because I will have friends with knowledge and skills around. People like me need to use their creativity to mod sometimes rather than money. Thanks for the advice Scott and everyone, I don't want to do anything stupid with my car to mess it up just because I'm starving for new stuff. With me, having everything functioning perfectly in the car comes before mods, but we all know what is more exciting. :P Time to start saving again....;) :P

P.S. Scott, your 190 looked wonderful. I've seen your 190 pics countless times on your site....I am a very frequent visitor. Just curious, but why and who did you sell your 190 to? Probably because you wanted a 500E?

P.P.S Can you tell this was a late night post? I got tears in my beer with that one HAHAHHA :D

:cheek: ummm chromatic would be the technical term...I didn't think I'd need to use layman's terms for educated Benz drivers LOL ;)

1) take your time; there is no finish line

2) I sold my 190E 2.6 to: ...my ex-fiancée!!! (who, in turn, sold it 2 or 3 years ago)

*sigh*

I kinda like that thin black contrast - I would never paint those on my car...
