Hey Luwin and Gqkosen,

Since you had to paint your rieger kit, how much did it cost...
I want to know if its worth spending the money on the kit, or just painting what i have

I painted what I had to start with ... just to tide me over while I was aquiring parts and pieces that make up the kit(s) I have now. I think I spent 2 or 3 hundred dollars ....

... wasn't there a thread on this just a little while ago? I think the server crash took it out :(

Since you are doing so many things ... you kind of want some time to live with each mod ... to see if you really like it. I have re-modded (is that a word  ?) so many things on my car I can't even count.

I would paint the bottom this year and live with it for a while and maybe save for a proper kit over the winter. Find a nice dead spot in your body shop of choices spring work load, and get it painted and installed (unless you wanna try it yourself like I did) on the cheap.

i was thinking of getting mabye a rieger kit in some near future..but do not want to spend too much money...that is why im wondering how much painging is....if everything comes out to more than a thousand dollars...than i might just get the front lip and paint the bottom 744 color...still thinking

Im tellin you bro, it will look like a snow plow if you just got the front lip and painted the stock bottom, its going to be waaay lower in the front than the rest of the car.
Just save up, why don't you just get an erebuni kit? you can have it for about $600 if you look hard enough and paint is about $600 or so, then you would have a complete kit.
In my opinion, adding the rieger front with the rest stock is like spending money to make your car look bad. Don't just paint all of the bottom either, trust me...when you have saved up for a kit and have it installed, you will be laughing if you ever saw anyone driving a W202 snowplow.

Paint is going to cost me $1000, and that's because I'm taking the parts off myself.

I'm not getting any kind of deal.

damn...

I pay (when I do it) $800.

They remove, front and rear bumpers, side panels, paint them, then paint my hood, and paint my tabs under the headlights (removing the wipers).

lol

it costed me $400 for 5 piece rieger not including the splitter. I had to cut buff and install it myself.

Remember..2 base and 3 clear!

Don't paint!!!! get a kit like what I did. I've waited for 2yrs before even installing a body kit and this f&%$k*%g body shop just ruined everything.  so wait for a good deal and don't rush yourself.

omg...i was just driving down the street looking for smoke spray for my car and i see this 744 C class. it was a preface lifted one with black bottom like mine, but the guy painted it, had similar wheels to somebody that showed me theirs, a very low drop, tint windows, and a spoiler...i totaly liked it...his exhaust was exactly same as mine....this gives me the inspiration to spray my bottom too....untill i find a good deal

You are in the same position I'm in. You have two options:

1. Embrace the black strips, and go for the hard look, with black wheels, hard drop, and many carbon and black painted pieces. No kit. This would still look nice because you have a silver car.

2. Go for the newer updated look, and paint everything, get a nice subtle kit or updated panels and parts.

I have decided to go with route number 2, even though it will cost me much more money and time. In the long run, I feel my car will look more like I envision. If it doesn't work out, I can always sell the parts, because I'm making sure I get the best deals possible. I've already scored two panels from a very nice guy for a total of $10! Let me know what you want to do, Scott
P.S. This was really hard decision for me, becuase I was really close to going the other route, see below:

Don't worry, I still may do it! I get into SF in mid to late July.

i came to macco's today, to ask how much it would cost to paint my car.

THis is waht they said:

Since my car is 95, and its not that new when it comes to color, they said its best if they paint the bottom half of the car below the door moldings, to better color match the car color. that is if i got a body kit. with all that they would charge $350...so KIT is going to wait.
