Sub/amp Question

is it safe to run a 1200 watt amp to a 1000 watt sub?

i think it should be ok...i'm guessing 1200 watts is your amps maximum output...you should mainly be concerned about your RMS (or average output) of your amp...

Plus most amps will claim a higher output than is really possible. So it should be safe.

But if the amp gives 1200 RMS and the sub has 1000 W musicpower, then it will probably explode, or something...

Ok newbies, I could run a 2000 watt amp on a 500watt sub.

How? I just turn down the amp. Simple.

Just tune it correctly and don't pump the full amount of juice into the sub and you won't blow it...
