I was watching fresh gear on tech tv and it was covering CES. alpine demo'd their newest multimedia station, the IVA-D300. thing was badass. has pulse-technology on the touch screen that gave the tactile sensation of a physical button. suppose to be compatible with IPODs also! the screen flips in and out alot fast now too. i noticed that the DOC, Will, and a few others have just gotten the D900 and i was seriously considering upgrading my C800 too. but now i have to see this one when it is out....

speaking of upgrading, DOC and Will, how is the resolution on the D900? i wonder if the advertised 400% more pixel resolution over the previous generation is true and if it really matters on such a small screen size already? i finally noticed one dead pixel on my display after 4 yrs of life.... im just itching to justify the upgrade..... :rolleyes:

Brandon - Yah the screen/picture is definitely more crisp and better than the older unit I had, but although the "spec" is suppose to be 400% better but to my "eyes" it's more like 4% better. heheh. My eyes just cannot even see a 50% improvement let alone 400%. But then all I watch is XXX on it so maybe I am just biased. LOL :D

will- hahahah thats too funny. i remember when i first had my equipment put in and i was at a friends house. he says, have you watched porn on it? i say no, and we go cruising around for about 45 mins with porn running on it! but that does seriously make me wanna consider upgrading finally.... especially with the mp3 compatibility and the new unit being able to play dvds..... damn.... another $1500 to spend.... wat to do?

I say if you can get good money back for the C800, and if your tires' threads are still looking good (you know you go thru a set like once every other month, lol), then GO FOR THE UPGRADE. :D

yup, im a total alpine whore. i think ive had 4 or 5 different alpine head units. closest thing id consider getting instead would be pioneer. i am considering upgrading, but right now i just cant bring myself to spend 1500K to replace a head unit im happy with besides the added functions the new one brings. ..... arrghhh. i but working on a different kind of "project". i think i will post some pics later tonight on my new "project"....

btw, will, on this last set of yokohama avs, im getting decent tire wear after swapping the left/right at 5K. right now id say they still at least have 60% of the tread left! so, if you havent tried the yokos, give them a test run.

It wont be much. It's gonna list for 1400-1500USD. I called Alpine to find out today its supposed to be positioned UNDER the d900/d901. Lower resolution, less outputs, less sound quality BUT you get the 'touch pulse' thing. I dunno I made my decision=)
