(Not that the last one wasn't true)
Anyway, i'm on that same road, same direction, again.
We're (my drifter friend was with me) nearing Beverly glen, when we're slowed by a Jetta (whatever the sportier model is, I'm not positive it was one, but it seems unlikely that he would have challenged me with a lesser one) in front of us. I'm a bit on his ass, so the passenger waves at me. We come to the consensus that he wants me to pass. I speed up to do so, go into the other lane, and.....
He cuts me off!!!!
We reach the Beverly Glen light, and I get in the lane beside him. As it changes, I drop into first and floor it, blowing past him. But he's a resillient little bugger. He sticks on my tail. I'm not sure if he's trying to race me or not, but it's seeming likely.
We get to the next street. The light is red, but there's not a car in sight for miles, and the turn leads to a road with almost nothing on it, anyways. I floor it right through. It becomes obvious that he's serious when he follows me through without skipping a beat.
But I'm too much for him. At my friend's urging, I take an agressive line, following his advice for techniques. The guy is soon a corner behind me. Than I reach a section of easy curves in quick succession, where a car can go straight through without turning. I floor it, and my car's acceleration in 2nd leaves him way behind.
As I reach the stop sign, we wait for him to catch up. He never shows. As there were no turnoffs between where I last saw him and where I am, we decide that he either turned around, pulled into a house, or, well, there's one less driver on the mountains of LA.
Now, here's the reason you guys are gonna believe me: I wasn't in my 190. I'd been having trouble with the 190, so I borrowed my dad's E36 328i, which also happens to be the first car I ever drove, the car I learned in, and the car I took my test in. I had forgotten what I was missing! My 190 is like a tank compared to it! And, yes, the Bimmer is an auto, but it has a nice feature where it can be put in manual mode, and the gears 1234 can be manually selected (D being 4).
Unfortunately, I went up later, but, unlike many saturday nights, there wasn't any challenge in sight. I would have liked to battle something a little more challenging while I had the car borrowed.....
