Battery Life

I've had the stock battery for about 7 years now. Think I should change it just in case?

you can check it by taking an amp meter to the batt, crank the car (with all stuff off ie AC, radar, stereo) and see what kind of amperage you are getting....

but the first thing you can do is to check if you got enuff 'batt fluid' in the batt...make sure the fluid is enuff to cover the batt fins inside...if its low you can top it off with DISTILLED water

I thought Mercedes Batteries are maint free? As in no water adding needed...

Take it to Sears and they'll check it for you for free.

my w202 old batt has the big MBZ sign and labels on it but it was just an ord. batt with little caps that you can open to add water into it

yeah and Sears does check it for free and if its bad make sure you get the Die Hard International series (they are good batts)

I replaced my battery with a Oddessy PC980, 26lbs vs. some 52lbs or more for the stock battery. Very good battery. Go to Battery Mart forthe best deal. I think it cost me $105 instead of $150 retail.

Plus I saved 25lbs of weight.

I say go with interstate if you want a regular battery, they make one that is a perfect fit for MB, and they are excellent batteries.

My personal choice is an optima battery. if you want the absolute craziest battery made, there is a company called hawking something that makes a ridiculous crazy battery.

you could go with the sotck mb battery, but I say go with something aftermarket.

I hate die hard, never had any luck with those in my other cars. once I went to optima, I never looked back. My car had an interstate when I bought it that was not new, and after a few years it finally went, put in the optima last year, and it has been excellent.
