Red. Rojo. Rosso. Rot. Say it in any language you want, it all means the same and evokes the same emotions when you see it on a car. The color that is standard on so many exotics, for it stands out and sets itself apart in a crowd. How fitting is it that the Ride of the Month for March is painted a bright red, and has the modifications to set itself apart from the rest of the crowd.

Harris Snodgrass comes from a pedigree of automobiles and racing, as his dad owns Brumos Racing in Florida. It’s obvious that his passion and love for his car runs deep in his blood, and you can even say - pours out onto this slick 300CE coupe. This car is a result of hard work and dedication 5 years in the making, as it was completely stock when it landed in his hands 5 years ago. For a car that’s 14 years old, I’m sure it gets more looks than most new body Benzes, and it rocks the classic lines of the solid W124 chassis.

The modification list for this car is extensive as Harris left basically no part of his car untouched or unmodified. The lines of the W124 coupe are classic Mercedes – the square shoulder lines and seemingly flat panels exude a sense of solidity and confidence. But that was simply not good enough for Harris, who sought to add a bit of flair and aggressiveness into the look. The car received a facelift courtesy of an AMG body kit. While that is enough for some, Harris took it a lot further. Inspired by the awesome look of the famed 500E/E500 of the mid-90s, he sought out and fitted 500E front flared fenders, and balanced it out with custom handmade flared fenders in the rear. With such an aggressive and unique look, he needed a color that would stand out and fit the car, so the body was covered in gorgeous hand-rubbed Porsche Guards Red paint with a custom hand-painted Russ Mowry pinstripe. Not stopping there, he swapped out his hood for a 500E one and also utilized Euro headlights, turn signals, and rear taillights from the 500E as well.

After dipping into the 500E parts bin for his unique upgrades, Harris decided that he better have the balls under the hood to walk the walk. A call to RENNtech resulted in Harris having them stroke the motor to 3.6L and use their forged pistons, titanium rods, ported and polished head, full exhaust system, capped off with the proper ECU tuning. A unique fact is that this is the last hand-built RENNtech engine as they are strictly sticking to forced induction and ECU tuning now. With the increased power, proper underpinnings were in order. H&R race springs were paired with Koni adjustable shocks, and RENNtech swaybars and toe/camber kits were used to keep roll and specs in check. The power is transferred to the ground with a set of gorgeous 18x9.5 RENNtech Monolite wheels that are painted the same color as the body and wrapped in sticky Goodyear Eagle F1-GS Fiorano Race Compound tires. Stopping power comes courtesy of Brembo SL600 big brakes front and rear with steel-braided lines.

With so much going on outside the car, the inside of the car is up to par as well. The tan interior was kept classy with a Momo aluminum shift knob and NR red-faced gauges hinting at the sportiness of this beast. Entertainment is provided by a Pioneer in-dash monitor, a 5-channel Alpine amp powering Boston Acoustic Pro Series speakers and two 12” Diamond Audio subwoofers. The trunk had an enclosure with an integrated rear monitor and passengers are kept happy with PS2/XBOX/Laptop jacks in the glovebox.

Harris would like to thank some of his current sponsors, which are RENNtech Performance, Goodyear Tires, Brumos Racing, AudioProz Audio, Precision Frame and Carriage Works, and Russ Mowry Designs. Rumor has it that Harris is putting up this gorgeous car for sale to make room for a new project. If this red beast is any indication of his modding style, it won’t be too long before our jaws drop at the unveiling of his next project.
