C36 vs '02 GT Mustang

I was on beltway 8 feeder road in Houston just trying to meet my family for dinner in Pearland. I took off at the light to be the first one ahead before a 1 lane merge for the next mile. (I just hate being stuck behind the '92 camry w/bad oil seals going 44mph)This Mustang 3 cars back sees me taking off & I guess he notices my spirited take-off, clear blinkers & dropped stance or AMG badge so I see him running up on me. This Mustang ran up on my tail with his lower fog lights on & windows rolled all the way down. I couldnt even see his front tires in my rear view mirror so i'm thinkin to my self this dude id a jack&%$! I could hear his loud trombone pipe aftermarket exhaust even behind me. Why would a dude in a Mustang go chasing after a lowered C-class????

I kept my cool and the dude finally drifted back in the one-lane section & as soon as it went to 3 lanes again I dropped 3rd to get away from the guy & I slowed back down to 55ish in the far right lane. Well joker boy gets next to me and starts pacing me. I notice his 60's retro 'bullit' mags & GT emblem on the fender. Its a fat dude wearing and old polo shirt & some dorky safety glasses. I heard him put his car down a gear & I didnt hesitate any longer. (deep in the back of my brain I remind myself how much I hate mustang guys b/c in thier little world they think they have the American dream - a pony car) I couldnt resist any longer - I was ready to run this jerk-off. I drop 2 gears and gun it, he stayed with me the whole way from 55 - 115mph. He actually pulled on me at the end but never got ahead(exhaust, K&N probably) HE got flashers put on him just to make him mad for riding my ass. I rolled my windows down & yelled 'straight 6 baby!' he was pissed so he stayed back and turned off. Now i'm wondering if HPS will do a blower kit for my car & not just the C43 so I can take on the new Cobra and M3?? Thats it - later

Great kill! I have been having alot of Mustangs doing the same with me since my exhaust tune makes them wonder whats under the hood. It's funny to just watch the look on their face when we "pull the pony"!:cool:

nice kill.....i know my friend in his turbo GTI chiped can take on a stock GT, and u r faster than him..so the GT that u raced prolly had much more modifications done to it...dont worry about it ....u still took his ass. I remember i took on regular mustang with my c280.....raced him from the start to mabye 70, and then let go...i had him by about 3/4 of a car lenght....my friend was what took u soo long..heheh...but nevertheless, nice kill what a way to represent for mercedes, and not to mention AMGs

It was probably the "Bullit" mustang. Those had the old N/A Cobra engines. 320hp or so.

I think that you'll probably need more than an 'off-the-shelf" blower kit to take on the new Cobras. They are supposed to be wicked fast.

Stock GTs have 260 hp.
Bullitts only have 265 hp.
Mach I's have 320hp.
'03 Cobras have 390 (underrated).

AMG vs. stock GT = apples to oranges, and it still hung with you :rolleyes: :D

The cobras are a different story, I got spanked by a new on a month ago... not pretty.

Oh yea btw dont doubt mustang GTs in miami i know 1 mustang GT here that hasnt been touchable by any street legal car including me. That guy is my friend all motor he walks me by at least 6 cars with spray i dont even want to know especially on a 200 shot.

I think it's nice to know a 4dr sedan can keep a 2dr muscle car (supposedly) from gaining on it. At least, i'd feel embarrassed if i were the stang owner who got called at his own game.

I wouldn't be embarassed. Muscle car = cheap affordable power..for people who can't afford expensive, reliable, luxurious, powerful, european imports. :P The Mustang owner was stupid..probably didn't even know it was an AMG he was going up against. :rolleyes:

I drive a GT, but at least I know which cars I can beat and which I can't...:cool:
