:hmmm: ... I think I know where this is going.
Good thinking... an optima would be at the least several lbs lighter. Only thing is the weight from the battery seems to be in a good spot to help with traction. I wonder if a lighter load would prove helpful or harmful?

Jason,
You are right about the traction, however with my adjustable spring setup I can move the weight around to differnet wheels by raising or lower different corners of the car.
Spare tire and jack are gone, repalced with two cans of leak fix, similar to what the Corvette carries. That was 50 lbs.
I had to adjust my shocks to bring the ride back to normal.
I have identified approx. 225lbs to take off my C43 and I have removed about 125lbs so far.

Wow, you have an adjustible spring set-up... did you fab it? I didn't know there was even one out there for the w202's. Heck, that would be extremely helpful in tandem with true slicks. Please let me know more.
What else do you have in mind for removal? I have always thought about replacing the front stock seats with some lightweight racing types. I'm betting I could shed close to 100lbs doing that alone.

Looking forward to getting the car moving again :P

Jason, you must not have seen this post. It's my 1999, C43 with SSR Comp wheels and adjustable spring perches. Look at the pics, at the bottom of the lower control arm. That bolt allows me to adjust the ride height in minutes.
I machined the perches myself.

And by the way the battery weighs a punny 56-58lbs.
I see 30 lbs coming off my car pretty soon.

Jeff,
That's pretty slick. Is the adjustment for the back the same type of set-up?

Jason, the setup in the back is very similar except I use 10" long springs. The adjustment is still done by turning the bolt that goes through the lower control arm.
