OPINION NEEDED: tail-lights

I'm thinking of getting these lights [imported from UK] and painting them to look like the ones on the Wald w126...I'd like to have hyper white indicator bulbs...:)

The 2nd option I'm considering is the style B [red/black] tail-lights...I don't really need to PS these lights as I am sure they will look good...

I like Mike's lights a lot.. Dr. AMG really knows how to put it down!!!

thanks for the opinion guys...i still gotta think about what lense to get but the red/white is out of the question i guess...

ill order through gericia [car accessories store in UK] if i get the red/black tail-lights...i think they'll look really classy/AMGesque on my car...

but the all red with the black surround looks quite nice as well...i'll most likely paint the lights myself if i go this route...or i might pick up a set of pre-owned tails and paint them so i don't mess up my original ones... :)

careful with painting them yourself karan....

I did that on mine, they looked cool, but you couldn't really see the light through them, and I redid them several times different ways.

I think the best way to do it is to thin the color with clear coat.

But not sure on that. And also paint it very thin, let it dry then see, because each time I did it, it didn't look dark enough for me, so I added more and ended up redoing them several times.

Finally bit the bullet and picked up the ones I wanted to get. The dark smoked top with the red bottom. They are darker then the oem ones, and look tight.

white refers to rice...on your 190 as well...the all red taillights have a red suround and the lights themselves might look pink when the sun hits the lights (which will be quiet often in california)...the red/black ones look nice IMO.

I think you are having what I call "rice tendencies"..
I just noticed both "Wald" AND "AMG" on your trunk lid.

Part of the whole German euro tuning thing is to go
as minimal as possible with a little "hint" of flair or
"flaunting it" as possible. The whole toned down thing
just gives it a bit of elegance, sophisticated, and class.

Leave the flourescent strobe light "TYPE R!!! HEY LOOK AT ME, LOVE ME, LOVE ME" type of styling for the rice kiddies.


IMHO, strickly. Otherewise, that's a beautiful 201.

As I mentioned in my initial post...the "Wald" badge was photoshopped along with the red/white tail-lights by a fellow 190Rev board-member...I do have an AMG badge only because I have AMG wheels...I'm not trying to fool anyone...:D :P

btw: thanks for opinions, comments, and compliments guys! I think I'll be going with all-red or red/black...still gotta think about it though :)

Nice car, by the way. I agree with the "minimalist" approach that someone mentioned in here. You don't want to end up with a 190 running down the road with an oversized wing from an Acura Integra hanging off the back.

Personally, I think your before pictures look great, and would have a hard time improving on that.
