..ok, so i have hear rumors that you can't just walk into a Ferrari dealership and buy a ferrari.....you have to be on ferrari's exclusive list or something to accquire one....how much merit does this rumour have?..if its true, how do you get on ferrari's exclusive list?

I bet you it's more like there's a list to buy one cause they don't make enough. It's probably like a waiting list for a SL55 or something...unless you got hook ups. That's my guess.

money makes the world go round. If i were a celebrity with $1,000,000 in my pocket, I could walk into a ferrari dealership and buy walk out with two ferrari's without any prior notification to the dealer

Not exactly. For certain models, not only do you have to be on a waiting list, but you must have previously owned a Ferrari, or taken Ferrari's driving course before you can purchase a V12. Or at least thats what I've heard. This is also only true at a Authentic Ferrari dealership.

btw- what is your favorite ferrari? I'd have to say that mine is a 250 GTO (only 31 produced)

3.0 Liter V12 producing 300 hp.

yep redline is right...i was a watching a special on discovery on Ferrari and other exotics...for certain ferrari models (such as the F50)...you have to own 2 ferraris in order to purchase the "special" models...:)

I'm sure anyone with money enough to buy 2 Ferrari's can afford a special model.

from what ive read for the new enzo, one would have to be on a special list of ferrari owners to be allowed to purchase the car. Apparently they do not want the car being in the hands of someone who can not appreciate a ferrari or something like that.

Actually you had to be invited to buy the Enzo by Ferrari. Even if you had owned a number of Ferrari's previously, you still had to wait for a letter from Italy to pluck down your 400k dollars.

Good idea from Scuderia Ferrari . . . I wonder if they instituted that policy from the lessons learned over at Lamborghini. So many Miuras were smashed up by inexeperienced rich guys who wanted that transverse V-12 rocket.

If i had 50cent-million dallaz, i would go to a ferrari dealership, buy two Ferrari's then get the F50.

If i had 50cent-million dallaz, i would subcontract H&R to make Indo-style lowering springs and use the rest of the money to pay Hank to use them. :P

I also saw that program krk230 saw, and another condition of F50 ownership was that you're not gonna sell it immediately after the purchase.

Weren't there also selection processes and customer evaluations for the Bugatti EB110 when it came out?

If i had 50cent-million dallaz, i would buy a Ferrari dealership, and make potential suckers purchase 2 Ferraris from me before being "invited" to throw away another $600k on an Enzo.

Anyone want to buy my exclusive 1992 Honda Prelude? You just have to have owned 2 previous Hondas.

i think that's the case for 'special' ferrari i remeber the F40 and F50 are like that (i dunno about the ENZOs):D

and yeah money makes the world go round BUT you did say if were a 'celebrity' aka famous that's why you can buy em ferrari easy but you still can't buy the exotic ones

but i bet ya that Jay Leno will have no problem buy a F50 if he wants (or he might already have one in his garage):D :o

The F50s were actually leased to owners for the first 3 years, I believe, after which they had the option to buy it. I have a Ferrari dealership a few blocks from my work here - I'll try to go ask them during my lunch.

BTW - Lamborghini of Beverly Hills (a few blocks away from Ferrari of Beverly Hills) has 1/18ths models of the Gallardo in stock already. :D

Why not go to Exoticar on little Santa Monica? They have them there. It's next door to Jamba Juice and only half a block away from Rodeo.;) It's way closer compared to going to Lambo of Bev.Hills.

Lu, where do you work? Perhaps i might drop by, and you could convince me why i should throw away my glasses.

Speaking of Enzos...have you guys read the current issue of Car and Driver Magazine? They say oil costs $60 per quart and brake pads cost $6000...yea $6000...

At least maintainance to the last drop is included for life when you buy a Maybach...but it's also not a street-legal race car :D
