As things seem rather quiet in here, I thought I'd ask all you petrol heads a question..... How do you prepare for a race?
For me, it goes something like this:
1. Size up opponent (as we all know, I'll race anything for laughs)
2. Check for cops!!!! (I want to go Home after the race, not jail!)
3. Check for other traffic and hazards (pedestrians, old people, slow moving cars, roadwaorks, etc)
4. Turn A/C off (though I very rarely have it on - i like fresh air)
5. Put car in POWER mode (holds all gears to 'Redline')
6. Put g'box in 1st gear (car just seems to launch even better, don't ask me why)
7. Switch off Traction Control ;)
8. One foot on the brake, one on the accelerator (bring the revs up to about 2000 RPM just before the light is about to change)
9. Wait for green light, then GO!
I normally race cars onto the freeway so I can let the car unwind. When the car hits 130km/h (80 mph), it shifts to third gear and I start backing off.
:D
