I didnt have any spare time to mess around w/ my new baby ever since I acquired her couple weeks ago.... until tonight.

I thought I should wash and wax her after work...
Then again, why not flush the coolant and change the oil afterward..
So, I pulled her into bay 7 and lifted up high....

15 minutes later.... Jim started working on the downpipe -- note the torque neck! :)

Few Mandrel bends later, here comes the hi-flow Catalytic Converter!

4 hours into it..... we were so close....

and finally.... at 10:20pm.. a full mandrel exhaust system, one of the kind, was born.
By this time, it's too dark to take any good picts... and we were simply too tired.
So I drove home South on I-25... loving the deep throaty sound and most of all the improved RPM response, low end torque, and smoother power band. :D

How much different as far as pipe size would be for the 3.2 v6? I know if you can provide one of these a certain r170 owner will be smiling like he lost it for the first time :)

I wish it'd be that simple. Most likely, I would need your car here in the shop.

I did that exhaust last night, and that was my first mod on the car. Today, I did custom intake and move the AIR MASS as close to the TB as possible. I did feel some improvement. If I have some more time tomorrow, I ll be doing custom strut brace along with some other suspension stuffs.

I can always install AFR and EGT sensors.

Who knows... too many things you can do to this car.

what are the specs? yr [pre 2001?]...mileage...and price you paid for [if you don't mind me askin']...i'm most likely going to get a pre-owned SLK230K in September...unless my parents make me get a brand new car...

Just a lil update... The low end is smoother, and now my mid range power is much better, but most of all the high gear RPM 4000-6000 is day and nite!

SLK320. I crawled underneath a 320 at the dealership. It looks exactly the same. I am pretty sure we can build yours based on mine.

Krk. Mine is built on Jan 2000. It has 60000 miles. I got them through dealer auction -- pretty good deal.

Nukblazi. We gotta talk about suspension! :D I am trying to fab few things... and wondering if its worthed or not.

Cklasse,

Wow, that look really nice. Now all you need a pulley kit to take advantages of that new exhaust system. If that were my shop, i would design a bolt on CAT instead of welded on. This way, i can run the car both way. You know what i mean?

Paul/SLK -- I got your mail. Sorry I just got back from Vegas. Pretty much yours downpipe back is exactly the same. I won't do the downpipe unless I have a 320 in the shop. :)

Brabus -- I don't know if it fit the C230K. But if you drive that car down here, anything is possible!

Chris -- Come on down! We are about 3-4 days behind all the time. Summer is going to be worse -- so give me a head up!

Linh -- I have done "test pipe" on previous cars. I doubt I would take the SLK upto that level. I do want the pulley though!

Honson -- I have done one C32 from Boulder, CO. And I have done full dual on C240. I ll see if I can dig out some picts.

I am doing a full manifold back system for a 04 I35 this week. It would be a challenge to keep this car stock quiet w/ the maximum improvement! Will post picts by this weekend :)

PS. I drove the new 300M w/ Hemi all this weekend in Vegas. I am extremely impressed. Amazingly the interior is heavily influenced by the benzo. Location of cup holder, ashtray etc is exactly of the C and E class. Nice CAR!!!

Your pig is leakin'. Replace the seals ... I had to around 60,000 too. Don't want to burn up a rear end gear :) .

SLK320.. ball park it at $700-900 for a full system including hi flow cat. I am still figuring the best setup. I had to change the downpipe elbow and rear muffler since I posted those picts. Now I gain even more torque. I cannot wait til I get to dyno this car.
