Here is how it goes

car 1:
My friend's 1998 E36 M3 with--

*Rouge Pulley kit
*Sharky ECU upgrade
*B&M short shifter
*M3 convertiable cross brace & front T-bar
*K&N drop in
(half tank of gas with driver only)

car 2:
My 2001 TT-Q with--

*REVO SPS1 ECU upgrade
*SAMCO Intake hose
*Hyperboost adjustable diverter valve
*K&N drop in
(full tank of gas with me PLUS a passanger)

Location: Aliso V (in OC) local roads

First run: rolling start at about 25mph

i got a slight jump on him at 2nd gear (about 1/2 CL) then we pulled side by side all the way till 75mph and shut down

Second run: at stand still

bad launch for me...i was about 1/4 of a CL behind then he pulled a bit on me due to my bad shifting (cant get into 3rd gear....damn need that quick shifter) and shut down at about 70mph or so (i was 1/2-3/4 CL behind him)

Thrid run: again at stand still

Ok lanuch for both of us....i had a slight jump on 1st gear (i edge less than 1/4 CL) then 2nd gear..he came back up probably due to my slower shifting caz i saw him edge up while i shift...(now we are literally bumper to bumper)...then 3rd gear we are still side by side....and shut down at 75mph

well...it looks like a pretty even race to me...he shifted b4 hitting redline at around 6k rpm (his redline is at around 7k) and i shifted at around 6k (my redline is at 6.6k) the curb weight of both of the cars are about the same (they both weight in at about 3250lbs (+/- 20lbs) i have a passanger so i have a slight weight disadvantage (about 100-130lbs heavier)

:P we were both very impressed with how both of our cars performed (he drove my car earlier b4 we had the run and i drove his car b4)

i have to insert the standard bmw forum/board comment when a bimmer gets beaten:
"your friend can't drive" :D

now that i got that out of the way... good kill ;)

i don't think your z would have a chance with those, its running stock rite? anyways my buddy had a z and even i can beat it with 1/4 or 1/2 of a car length...

it wasn't 'really' a kill story .....but both of us were really suprised and happy with the outcome he though his M3 was gonna lose (after driving my TT earlier and felt how the turbo pulled)

on the other hand, i though i was also gonna lose caz stock E36 m3 pull 0-60 at around 5.8-5.9 sec and my stock TT-Q is only at 6.2-6.3 sec......PLUS the upgrades that he did i was guessing that it'll probably put him in the mid 5 sec range....but i guess my REVO program did the magic.....

next time i should try running with him on stock mode and with no passanger in my car...i think he'll probably beat me...but just to see how bad

me, krk230 and vader13 are from aliso viejo, horrible city to race in, close to no crime so cops just patrol streets looking for people to pull over

thanx

yeah he is planning to get some Dinan goodies for his car once he starts his new job........

he was thinking of the upgrade injectors, shrick cams, throttle body etc. (i think is the $3k Dinan kit) if he gets that then there is NO WAY i can play wit him (unless i get a K13 turbo upgrade HAHA)

Um if Vodka says his TT can run mid 5's I'd be able to keep up with him. On the G-tech I pulled a 5.3... However i'm a pretty good shifter as well.

I'd race you vodka, but were on opposite sides of our great contry.

HAHA yeah i think it would be a good one

i dun think the TT can gain on the 350z i test drove em when i was car shopping thye are quite fast and smooth acc. and i am sure they can do mid 5sec no doubt

i am doubting if my TT is actually THAT fast HAHAHA...i mean i am sure it is below 6 ticks from 0-60 with the chip but dunno what range in the 5's (caz bare in mind that my friend in the M3 is NOT the greatest driver in the world...and so am in HAHAHA)

another thing is that i think the z would pull after 100mph caz of the bigger displacement.....is like there was a few times that i was racing the w202 against some eclipse GS-T supped up

from 90-130 we were dead even so i think displacement makes a BIG diff in high speed

Vodka, That would be an awsome race!! Hopefully I can come out to autofest and have my dad get me a z from a stealership.
