The real definition as any girl/women, ethnicity is not a factor.
shawty=is the East Coast way of saying things
shorty= everyone else, but they be fakin like they down wit it and say "shawty"
shorty=shawty
Hawaii:
Howzit bruddah! (hello)
da kine (this and/or that)
mahalos or tanks, eh (thank you)
On the "mainland" I've found that nature still abhors a vacuum, so all the unused "r" sounds from the east coast end up in places like Texas, where you don't wash your car, you "wersh" it.
I thing I've noticed is that people on the West Coast (me and all my homies) tell a story like this...
So I was like how are you?
And he's like I'm fine.
And I was like Really?
He's like yea.
And I'm like cool.
Instead of saying, he said, she said - we say he's like, she's like. :) Or at least I do anyway....

When I was in a gang I used to talk crazy. One time we were going to get revenge on this guy from the eastside because he capped my homeboy in the leg during a basketball game. So I stepped up to the fool with my nine up to his left eye and busted out with real intensity "Wassup jigga! yeah, it says 'stainless' on the tip, you know you can read it punk. so wassup now foo?! yeeah 408 reprezent, westsyyyde!"
Ummm, that's pretty much how we talk in my neck of the woods.
