View Full Version : Autofest 2 Date Change!
Brabus
05-11-2004, 10:36 AM
Let me start off first by apologizing for the inconvenience that this may cause people.
The BNZSport AF2 will now be July 17th, 2004. It will NO LONGER take place in Santa Barbara and will be held in the Bay Area, location TBA.
Reasons for this move are because of the current setup at the venue and the lack of compatibility of parking on grass for lowered cars. Also, we could not come to a reasonable agreement/conclusion with the Santa Barbara Police and CHP about holding our event in Santa Barbara.
So for the safety of the members, their cars, and BNZSport, we'll be shifting the spirit of 052204 to 071704. Thanks for all your help, understanding and appreciation. AF2 WILL STILL HAPPEN and it will be GREAT!
For those of you who have already bought tickets, I especially apologize for this and you will receive some complementary BNZSport stickers at AF2 (they will be selling for $5). You have two options:
1) Defer your ticket to be used at the July 17th AF2. -- No action required if this is your choice.
2) e-mail me at Brabus@bnzsport.com and I will ensure that you get a refund for your ticketed amount plus any fees you incur.
Thanks again guys, and a new AF2 thread will be posted shortly.

Come on you lazy Socal bastards! Like we did for Autofest 1! We had a 20+ car caravan from LA to San Jose, on I5, we owned that road, everyone on the radio, me on the police scanner, radar up front, radar in the back, POS mustgangs that wanna race the big boys and get spanked, In n out stop in the middle of nowhere....that's already 50% of the fun right there!
Josh don't be a little girl, take your car and go with us! :)

For those who participated in the SoCal Caravan up to Autofest I, it was a sight and experience to remember. A line of 20+ sick, modded Benzes on the I-5 at cruising speed, lunch at In-n-Out, being joined and welcomed by our administrator on the freeway up north, hanging out, washing cars, going to D&B's - those are times to savor as well as the actual event itself.
So yes, there is SoCal caravan up to the event, and as the trip usually only takes 5 hours or less, it is an honor to roll up with your fellow modded Benz owners.

big reason why i liked the original location for AF2 was its proximity to home and highschool friends who live up in santa barbara. dont get me wrong i absolutely loved the caravan up to the bay area the first time, but i can't see myself driving that distance again. it stacks a huge amount of miles on my car and high speeds for that long in my little four banger felt really insecure. i'm sad i'll miss the show, but for the life of my car i can't go. i don't have the money to be repairing it either if i mess it up driving all that way. lately i've been reducing my driving to only very very necessary trips.

I would go just for the cruise!!! That would be awesome. I would wear my Cannonball run sticker with honor.
***sigh***
Unfortunately, there is no Cannonball run from Michigan.

Man, I wish I could've been there! :)
Now, for all of you that don't want to drive 5hours for this; When we had our 1st Euro GTG there was a guy driving from Finland, meaning that he had to spend 21hours on a ferry alone, and then he had to drive for several hours to get there :D Events like these are SO frikkin' worth it - I would reconsider if I were you! ;)

AMG190, Vancouver to San Francisco is about 20 hrs straight HARD drive. I did
this drive 2 years ago, but I did it in 2 days. I left Vancouver 9PM and drove
all the way to Portland Oregon (5 hrs). Slept overnight and left about
9AM then arrived Hayward, CA 10PM. I'm planning the same trip once
again on my S2000.
