I have a 93 300e, all stock. my friend has a 97 328i bmw, and he wanted to race. i kept on puttin him off, but i finally raced him. i figured he would beat me, but i was gravely mistaken :). we raced on a long, straight country road, and he beat me off the line, but never got more than 3/4 a car length on me. at about 60 mph, i pulled away from him. And o boy how i pulled away! i slowed down at about 120, and i had him beat by like 10 car lengths, it was great, especially killin a beemer :)

I had a 300E zoom past me in traffic the other day, they are quite quick!
Good race! :)

i'm guessin' you have a 300E 2.8 or 300E 3.2? no way 300E 3.0 could take a E36 328i...

Its possible, the Bimmers are not high on the HP. In fact the "new" 330i has 225 HP, about the same as my "old" 94 E320 LOL!!!! In fact I beat one the other day. :)

And if I remember correctly the 328 has about 170ish HP

yes, it is a 300e. my car is a lot heavier than his too, his is more compact, like a 328i is lol ;)

Are you sure a 300E is heavier than a 328i? I'm pretty sure my 328is is real close in weight to my 400E...V8 is heavier than the V6.

I really don't think the 328is is as heavy as the 400e.

his car is more a compact car, not as long, so i mean, thast weight right htere. an his engine prolly isn't as heavy as mine. my car is also 5 years older than his, which MAY be a difference in materical and crap?

I got a chance to drive a 300E as a loaner for a few days and I was impressed at how much mid-range torque it had. Not bad at all. I can see it giving a 328 a run for the money. I figured a 328 would be lighter and be quicker overall but guess not. Was the BMW auto or manual?

it was that kind that has both. I think the sport package?? not sure. but, ya, it had automatic and manual in it. i raced him a total of 3 or 4 times, i for sure in manual, and i beat him, the others in auto, maybe 1 more in manuel, but i beat him everytime. :)
