So my sister in law is driving down Winchester (busy multi lane street in San Jose) in her less than year old Camry. All of the sudden, someone jumps the center divider and BAM head on into her. No time to react to anything. Head on at least 35 mph and she walks away! Scrapes and brusies, but she is OK. Amazing... The other guy was in an Accord and broke his leg and something else, yikes (he had airbags too). Thank god for airbags...

Kinda makes my whining about wheels just a little trivial...

Sorry about the misplacement (again)...
She said the Accord was maybe 5 years old, not that old, but way worse for wear. Looks like her car will probably be totalled too. It's a mess, frame is all tweaked, engine, and the driver's side was hit too.

This was yesterday too, right near there. Makes me not wanna drive my old Legend any more. (Well, as it is I maybe drive it a couple times a month...)

Be careful out there!

And the big three call the Institute for Highway Safety's offset head-on car crash test UNREALISTIC

I bet your sister in law doesn't think so!

Good to hear that she's fine! Be thankful of the Camry's crumple-zones. Sure the car's destroyed but at least the occupants are safe.

If someone hit me head on in my 300CD.... the 300CD would most likely be fine. I'd probably have to go through physical therapy!

Actually... Mercedes, albeit tough & strong like a tank, still has excellent crumple zone technology even in their 80's cars...

Serious!! I saw pix last night. Poster boy for offset crash. Crumple zones worked great, but the frame is tweaked, even the rear door frame is tweaked out a couple inches. Body shop guy said it would most likely be totaled. Now they are going to have to deal w/ ins which of course could make anyone go
Thanks for the well wishes, we appreciate it.
