Anyone here have a recommendation on swirl remover? I tried the Zaino with 3 light and 1 heavy coat, and it still show swirl in the bright sun....
If you're unfortunate to have a dark colored car, it is almost impossible to keep it swirl free.
Zaino is great for durability, but has almost no swirl-filling properties.
The pro's would use a light abrasive and a orbital buffer, followed by a glaze and then a sealant/wax. However, if you don't have a porter cable or don't want to spend _that_ much time washing your car, you can just use a glaze followed by a sealant/wax.
I use P21S Gloss Enhancing Paint Cleanser. It does a good job and the durability is pretty decent. Other suggestion would be 3m Hand Glaze.
I use 3M SMR once a year on my car. In the mean time, i use P21S GEPC to fill the swirls.

P21 stuff is the best for dark cars. IT's what I use and it's wicked. I picked up a 2800rpm buffer, I'll use it tomorrow and do the car, we'll see how it turns out.

Yeah, I am thinking I should pick up a buffer too. Are those products you guys describe buffer friendly?
Johnny, just read your mail in my outlook. As I told you earlier, Zaino does not work well hiding swirls. To get full benefit out of Zaino, swirls must be physically REMOVED (not hidden) prior to the Z treatment. I agree with everyone that P21S GEPC works better than Z hiding swirls.. Even Meguiars #7 works better than Z5 on swirls; however, IMO GEPC is still superior to Meg#7.
I believe you know that Zaino durability can't be topped. I usually need to re-apply P21S every month (used to apply weekly but now I'm lazy bastard), I mean protection is still there but shine diminished and need re-apply, but with Zaino I can reapply once every 3 months with minimum loss in shine.
Trade offs.....
Meguiars #9 SMR 2.0 & #83 DACP, 3M #39009 SMR & 39002 Fine cut are all buffer friendly, with Meguiars been the EASIEST. If you don't feel comfortable or scared with a buffer then start with Meguiars #9 or 3M SMR. These are super mild. However, as you get use to it you will problay feel that they don't cut enough (like I feel now) and use #83 or fine cut the most.

Will, when are you free???! Maybe I can come down to you house, and you can tell me how to use the buffer and those chemicals..... :)
Let me know!!!
Johnny, no prob with it but it's bad time right now.. Now every weekend I'm running back & forth to stereo shop to do some repair work, then when I get it all fixed I need to attack my fender and do more repairs. There are quite a few things wrong with my car now I don't even have time to go TWS to replace my two rear tires that's almost bald (after 10 Months) - lucky no rain recently. I also need to hit up few far places in next 3 months so my weekend schedule is pretty much booked until August 30, 03 and I'll be pretty much free from Sep ~ November t if you need me! :)

sounds like a full schedule!! hahah... no prob. I am "pretty" happy with the Zaino...it definately gave that wet looks...and ppl are actually coming up to me asking how amazing the paint looked. But I eventually want to get rid of those swirls.
What's wrong with the I.C.E??
I am still waiting on my Alpine PXA-H700, and I am pretty much done. :) I think..... hahaha..

If all else fails, Ardex makes a product called "seal-o-B"?? which I use to use on my wifes BMW. That seemed to work best with the porter cable buffer and polishing pad. Dont worry if your not familar with using a buffer, the porter cable orbital buffer is infalable.
Good luck,
Joe

Yup I'll be pretty busy driving around until Sept...
What's wrong w/ICE? Let's see.. Where do I start. hahah. Quite a few things but fortunatelly I got 90% of stuffs squared away. It's all small problems mostly and nothing major. Here are most recent problems. Last week one of my rear headrest monitor went dead and my volt meter fell lose in the trunk, then this week my navigation is not working, and there are some other minor stuffs I need to have adjusted but nothing major. I'll be taking trips to fix all those in the upcoming weeks.
Hey, speaking of H700, I was just thinking about that last weekend. I asked my shop about it and he said he's only got one and the only one in the shop and was going to show it to me, but we both forgot by the end of the day. I didn't really research on this unit but was told that this would make noticeable improvements on the SQ and I would need to pull out my Zapco... But nah, in this moment I'm really broke and not in position to do any more ICE mods. If you get this done let me know how you like it! :)
And don't say you are done when you know it's not true. hahah. but I agree though. Sometimes you gotta draw a line and know when to stop and I'm definitely done too.

hehe...I am waiting for my headrest monitors to go out, so I have a "good" reason to change them to the TME-760...hahaha
Really your shop has a PXA-H700?? Thought it wasn't going to be out till later this month. I need to get my shop on the ball!
Johnny, yah he told me he has PXA-H700 in stock last weekend but only one in so far. I should see them again within couple of days so I'll ask them to show it to me.. I'm also curious to see how it looks.. hmm but according to him, installation (on my car) will take couple days and not something I can just go in Sat morning and come out Sat night. Oh well, I have no plan of doing it anyway. haha

For swirls = 3M Imprial Hand Glaze
For fine scratches = 3M Finesse It II
Both can be applied by hand but machine application is prefered. The choice of professional body shops for years. Before the stuff became available to the public at large, I used to have to tap a friend at my local body shop supply store just to get it.
If you haven't tried the hand glaze, you have to. It is just amazing on swirls and has no "cut" in it whatsoever. It's majic :P .
